Hi Don,

I’m also from Barrie. I noticed from your other post that you’re booked to see Dr. Bilkey. I was referred to him and got lucky as there were cancellations so I got through the assessment process fairly quickly in a few months time, although it’s on hold at the moment.

I found him really great to talk to, I really felt like he was the first person to completely understand what was going on for me. Sandra is very helpful too. I have been to see him three times now and I have one more appointment booked in the new year. He won’t release a final report until he has the results of a a sleep study he suggested, and as it turns out, my problem may not be ADHD at all as I’ve just been diagnosed with narcolepsy (sleep disorder). But he did say that I should have the sleep disorder (if any) treated first, and then he would treat any residual ADHD.

I don’t know of any Barrie support groups, but I do think this forum is really good and the members are extremely helpful.

The Centre for ADHD Awareness Canada (CADDAC) website is very informative, you might find it useful http://www.caddac.ca/cms/page.php?2

Here’s a link to their resources for parents with ADHD http://www.caddac.ca/cms/page.php?212

When do you see Dr B?
