My son is on Adderall. He started on 20 mg which after a couple of months was changed to 20mg to be followed later in the day by 10mg. He got a prescription for both 20 and 10. Upon my request, they changed it to 20 mg of 45 tablets which could be broken to get the 10 mg for later dosage, if needed. This meant that there was only one prescription instead of two which was cheaper. It gives him the option to adjust his dosage depending on his needs.
@Jojosephine – follow your doctor’s direction on dosage and increases, unless you have a bad adverse reaction. Make notes on how the stuff works for you. (From your above post, you seem to be doing this.) A particular dosage might not work as well some days as others, due to other factors such as stress, diet, sleep, hormones, etc. Keeping notes will help you to eliminate how a particular dosage works before and after increases.
Review your notes before your visit so you can have facts to present to support your thinking and reasons for changes in dosage. If you ramp up the dosage too quickly, you may miss the best dosage because of the effects due to one of the other factors. Also, you may want to get you husband’s input as to how it affects you. It may be working better or worse than you think.
My wife is a RN. She seems to prefer to consult a pharmacist over a doctor about drug questions.
