Noted his “blog” and info on ADD treatment drugs and so on. He advised that Strattera can cause blood pressure increases, etc. – the very reason my doc said it was ALL he’d prescribe for me.
Another doctor – sleep doctor and internal medicine told me that Strattera was linked to liver problems.
Wondering……. and wondering if anyone knew about Dr. Kenny.

AnonymousInactiveAugust 17, 2011 at 1:05 amPost count: 14413I’ve read the blog before and found it interesting. I don’t really have info about his credibility. my drug book says that strattera can raise blood pressure. I don’t know how that compares to the blood pressure increase of stimulants.

REPORT ABUSEAugust 18, 2011 at 12:00 pm #106354Just wondering how “sound” his advice on meds was……….. since I”m in the states and unable to find someone to deal with Adult ADHD myself, I can relate to the other. Canada has it SO NICE with all the ADD experts up there – you folks wanna export a few to us?
IF (and that’s a huge IF) you DO find one here you wait months to see them – then to go back is another 3-6 months wait. AND it’s getting worse with the new health care rules.
REPORT ABUSEAugust 20, 2011 at 6:33 pm #106355Dr Kenny Handelman is all over the place these days. Do u know his website, etc, all the things he has “going on”?
I find it hard to keep up with all his stuff…maybe he has it like us? anyway, I totally agree about finding a psychiatrist even in Ontario it is so difficult. I have been around this site a few times trying to link up with Dr Jain and so far I have not had any luck with any response that directs me to how. I know where he is, but not if he takes adult referrals these days. I am going to call the centre for addiction and mental health directly if nothing else happens. My dr has had no luck finding anyone to see me. Soo frustrating, because I probably only have to see someone a couple of times …I need to know about ADD meds and use of Beta Blocker drugs for heart issues. Otherwise, I am in good hands with a coach and a good partner these days. Have been on meds for a few yearsbut was taken off when I went to see the cardiologist. [who says he knows nothing about what to advise me]
REPORT ABUSEAugust 20, 2011 at 10:46 pm #106356My friend used to see him when he was under 18, he seemed pretty indifferent when I asked how he was. As far as I can tell he mostly works with children and adolescents. I live in the GTA and I’m having a horrible time finding a psychiatrist/psychologist/coach that will see adults and are experienced with ADHD. I just get medication prescribed through my family doctor and I know it isn’t enough treatment. When I was under 18 I had access to psychiatrists, group therapy with other kids with ADHD, psychologists, and I didn’t even take the disorder seriously at that time. When I was in college I had accommodations for school and access to counseling. Now that life is more demanding and ADHD causes far more impairment in every aspect of daily life, I have no access to treatment and I actively try to hide my disorder at work. Sorry if this turned into a rant but I’m so sick of ADHD being treated as something you just grow out of.
