CBD oil comes from hemp or marijuana, but does not have tch and does not get you high. I don’t understand why someone said it isn’t safe, ax there are zero studies that say CBD is harmful. It may not be right for you, but it is nit harmful unless someone has a specific known reaction. By the way, certain strains of pot WITH TCH have also been known to be helpful, but that is a separate issue. Most of the research comes out of Israel. The reason there isn’t a lot of research is because the U S treats it on the dame level as herin – which is absurd.

If you can get pass the stigma of CBD being derived form Cannabis, HEMP or Marijuana – its better. The CBD helps with so many things, inflammation, arthritis, seizures, cancer – it an anti inflammatory and I’m not a doctor but from what I know there rae zero negative health side effects. Big Pharma doesn’t like it because they cant charge you for it – yet but they will find away. In most states you need a medial marijuana card – which is a big process and I know some people can get hung up on that – I mean you tell your kids not to do drugs and its illegal – except when you get a med card – that’s just a piece of paper. If it helps as medication, it is medication – there should be no stigma. Plus the Med Marijuana CBD is regulated, dosed correctly and pure. Its not like buying some crap on the street you don’t know what’s in it. In states where marijuana is available recreationally – I found that a lot of times they don’t carry a lot of CBD oil, because its mostly about getting high.

I have been taking Adderall XR off and on for the past 5 to 7 years. My regular doctor said I should stop taking it even because it raises BP and heart rate, even though I dont have any concerns in that area. I went off of it for over a year and it was a struggle. I recently went back on it. Even though I can benefit from it daily I generally take it 4 days a week.

I started taking high quality medical grade CBD oil about two weeks ago and I really think I can see this as either a replacement for or use in conjunction with Adderal. It really had a positive effect. My ADD is inattentive mostly, but my biggest issue is a restless mind, I just cant shut it off mist times. I really didn’t think the CBD oil would have any benefit at all. As most know there is no HIGH associated with CBD it does not have TCH and does not get you high. The effect fir me 15 to 20 miiligrams in the morning and again in afternoon was very helpful. It is subtle, but in my case it feels like a very thin film or or lens that encases the mind. It gives me a sense of calm and calms my restless mind and really does help me to concentrate at the task at hand. There is a subtle sense of thoughts as well as visual objects just have a sense of clarity, like everything is in the right place and takes away the sense of restlessness and worry that I should be focusuing on or doing something else. This has been my experience, I am sure that it is different for everyone and I am sure there are different grades and kinds of strains that CBD is derived from. So far, iut has been helpful and has let me step back a bit from the stimulants. I think it has promise.

I started with adderall 10 milligrams and had blood pressure issues. I then went to Adderal XR 10 mill. My B P was elevated but not as high and wore off during the day. Adderall XR definetly helps me to focus and with symptoms, but I still get concerned with Lomng term use. I gerally take it once or twice a week – either 10 mills or 15 mills. Sometime my concentration and focus suffers when I do not take it, but that is the trade off I accept for trying not tpo develop HBP.

I understand exactly how you feel as a Catholic and have the same problem with Mass – really the same thing.

Its tough – the main thing is the faith is perfect but the instituition is not. I don’t think abondoning the faith is the solution – and i share your exact same problems with MASS BELIEVE me. I’m about on the same mass schedule as you as well. Let go of the guilt and the shame – do the best you can with it. I go to confession once a month and it helps.

Maybe try and shop around a mass that works for you. Hang tough

One of the ebst peices of advice fo ADD I recievd was from a video with Dr. J. He said get bucket and unload your pockets wehn youi get home every night – car keys, glasses , phone wallet. It sounds so easy and simple it is.

I found thye same life altering results from the scanner.

See Post below I posted in Tools forum – at the risk of sounding self centered I’m amazed that there have been no responses. I am amn orgfanizational mess and the scanner I bought top organize and store paper and files has been absolutley amazing in terms of cconquering my paper paralyssis and re- organization.

ALso making files on M S outlool to drop and drag and store info has been very helpful.

“I bought a high speed scanner and it totally revoltionalized my brain and how I do things. I am in a very paper intensive line of work and have a very non linear brain. Not to mention the kids, records, schedules, taxes etc.

Now every scrap of paper i have gets scanned in, filed in an electronic filing cabinet – Example: Cabinet “Personal” – the files “Electric Bill” etc…. same for business. It really is amazing and what is liberating is after I am done scanning the paper I look at it and I know I don’t need it anymore so I SHRED IT and back it up.

My universe is at my finger tips. Before I was a total organizational mess and now – my office, my files and my life have become far more managable, productive, effecient, profitable and hopeful. If you have a hard time organizing things, keeping track an following up – check it out. Scan it, drag and drop it and shred it. Oh by the way you can search any document you scan by typing a couple of key words and it pops up automatically.

This is the ADD’ers best friend for organization and overwelm amazing. What will you/I do with all that wasted time the we will recover? “

Does anyone take a break from their Adderall use. It definetly helps me – I take Adderall XR – I was prescibed 10 mill a day. I took it every day for a few months and then I switched to every other day. Now I try and take it once or twice a week tops. I function better with it but just being aware of my ADD condition helps me from getting off track a lot. I think if I took it every day during the work week it would help me be more productive but I do not like the potential prblems like HBP.

I have heard that many doctors say that Adderall is not a long tewrm solution and it should be a stepping stone to contolling symptoms with other means and should be not taking long term. Any thoughts on either long term use or taking breaks from meds thanks

Hi Buxom Diva – I have been happily married for 15 + years and have strong relationship. My wife and I have different sex drives. I don’t want you to think I’m a maniac or anything, I just think about it frequently and am good to go pretty much anytime. My comment was more about those who either don’t find it interesting or can’t foucs – I DO find it interesting and CAN focus at this task.

Also my question was about frequent involuntary and voluntary fantasies about an aquaintance / friend – don’t get me wrong I would never and have never acted on such impulses – there is just something that turns me on about them and it can loop in my head. Sure I appreciate the essence and the sight of a beautiful women – but that is a typically a momentary pleasure that passes – while this one lingers and I was just curious if anyone else had a similar fixation.

Am I the only one with the opposite problem? I have a srong sex drive and daydream about it fairly often (I’m Male go figure) I have a tendency to be hyperfocussed on it and look to it as a major stress and anxiety release – afterwords I can focus much better on tasks. Also, have recurring fantasies about the same thing (person) over and over fairly frquently – occaisonally to the point of compulsive thoughts.

I kind of feel like odd man out because no one seems to talk about much or at all and wonder if this could drift into the area of OCD.. After being diagnosed I thought perhaps it was the adrenaline rush and stimulation that helped me to quell my ADD symptoms – i.e. give me the stimulation my brain is screamin for…. but not many seems to have similar experiencesat least here on the forum

    Any input?

P S I am exploring things to augment the meication and am considering martial arts and/or meditation. I think we need to keep reaching outside the meds and not expect taht we can take a pill and have all of our problems go away. It has to be soem kind of combo of med and physical and mental training. Would be great to leave meds behind altogether some day.

I’m the same age and was diagnosed about a year ago. I went though the same feelings as you. Initially the adderal was a miracle. It et me straight in a lot of ways. Made me more effecient, concentrate better, more productive and more reliable.

I’m fairly successful, but always feel I could be so much more. I have come to realize that the meds are only part of the equation. I have not fully figured out the other part. I excercise a lot and it makes me feel better, but then I undue my gains with a poor diet in the evening, or a few drinks to quell my anxiety.

When I beat myself up, I try to remember to tell myself, “Forgivness, it’s a virtue. are on a consta Forgive others and forgive yourself.”

We are constantly torn between feeling guilty, or ashamed or “less than” and giving ourselves credit for iur successes and triumphs. When I’m at my worst, I try to remember that I have a disorder. Remember to be gentle with yourself when you need to. It is a balancing act.

Sometimes we need a kick in the ass and sometimes we need to forgive ourselves and give ourselves a break. Noone is perfect. SO when you feel at your worse, forgive yourself. Give yourself a break for a while and then climb back on your horse and keep on trucking. It is a cycle and we all have to be willing to oush ourselves, but also aknowledge, hey I do have ADHD and there will be times when I’m beating myself up. Ther will also be tims when I’m creative, loving empathetic and loving. My feeling we are mostly the latter most of the time and the disorder just gets in the way. Love yourself.

What makes me succesful is my uniqueness and my ability to solve problems and think outside the box. What I’m not great at is organization and tedious work. I have recently hired someone to help me organize and do the things I am not good at and let me do the things I excell at. I still have challenges and still have a lot to do on my own, but delagation when possible can be liberating.

    Hang in there

Speaking about zoning out regarding sex. Does anyone zone out or get stuck on fantasizing – sometimes compulsively – about acquaintances? Subconsciously having obsessive thoughts – probably to stimulate and satiate the ADD craving for stimulation?

ADDers are always looking for ways to self medicate and self stimulate the brain – anyone get stuck in this kind of thinking? Or is it just being a redblooded normal guy?

Right now my main concern is that at night after the med wear off I get wired and somtimes will make poor food choices or have a couple of drinks to mellow out.
