Just to clarify – is the term ‘insiders’ going to be used?

I am excited about the new part of the site. But I already feel like an insider here and want the rest of the site to still feel that way – we’re part of something great here. If the new part is going to be referred to as an ‘insiders’ area, that completely changes how I feel about it. To the point where I wouldn’t want to be here any more.

Extra is one thing. ‘insiders’ is them and us. That’s not for me. I appreciate that people didn’t like ‘ADD and loving it’ but ‘ADD and loving it’ doesn’t imply ‘yet again you’re not part of the in crowd’, which ‘insiders’ does.

‘Closet gifty’. Didn’t see that sneak up on me at all! lol We’ve been round and round on that one a good few times and I’ve loved it every time.

    You’re absolutely right.

It’s about the bullies and their experiences that have made them the way they are.

I suited up, stood up against my bully and am free now. It took realising that it wasn’t me to change how I reacted. And my reaction is what freed me.

I am home schooling my son after a terrible bullying incident and, only a month on, he’s asking questions and fitting together a story about why the bully became like he did. And he knows what happened wasn’t his fault. (He also knows that he doesn’t ever have to put up with it and home school is going VERY well!)

I’ve just pulled my 8 year old out of school to home educate him because of bullying by both staff and pupils – one boy in particular who beat him up on the day I decided he wasn’t going back.

Meds should always be used as a last resort, regardless of the condition.

I hesitate before any drugs are administered to my kids. If there was another equally effective way to treat my son’s asthma, I’d be doing that rather than giving him steroids.

We can’t be flippant about these things. It’s great when the drugs work and even better if there are alternatives that work so we don’t need them.

The ‘pi’ sign is wrinkles by the way. Not a tattoo. Though that would be different, for sure…

LOL Yes, it’s almost 10pm and I hardly ever drink which is why I’m tiddly after 2 glasses of wine!

#People who change the world are people who take chances.

You know, I have a ‘pi’ sign on my forehead, right between my eyes, from my constant frowning. And my skin is slightly paler there too. I’m going to stop doing that!

Also, the pink paper, Rick? Do you have Irlen syndrome too? I need lilac paper and grey/blue overlays.

I may post a lot. There may be alcohol involved…

“adults don’t lose things any more. They lose time looking for their things”

2 essays last year that I wrote THREE times because I forgot i’d written the sodding things or knew I’d written them but couldn’t find the buggers.

Just watching the first film now. Wish I’d seen it years ago.

Most common reason for adults turning up looking for answers – unexplained underachievement.

Unexplained underachievement is exactly why I went looking too. I thought it was dyspraxia and although there are traits there it was the inattention that was the issue with me.

Odd how focused I am when the environment is right though.

    Just LOVING the video!

I think some people are pressurized into medicating their children when they don’t want to do it so there are 2 sides to the coin.

In The Goldfish Family, the child in the case study was given ritalin which he had a very bad reaction to. Arguably, the boy in the case study, though diagnosed with ADHD, is displaying typical gifted traits and may have been misdiagnosed.

There are a lot of things that should be done for children displaying differences associated with ADHD but medication should be a last resort in my opinion. Of course it should. Drugs have side effects and we don’t know what the long term issues may be yet.

That said, it could completely change a child’s life and IF other methods aren’t effective then of course medication should be considered and used with very careful monitoring and continued help in other ways.

I’m having a serious look at my own life and my own ADHD, and I have very mixed feelings about medication. I think I’ll explain more on another thread…
