This video uses a clever setup to keep you interested in what the experts are saying. The first clue is the falling squirrel in the pretend “Madmen” opening.

The setup is a meeting w/ Don Draper and some experts on what they know about ADD and workplaces. Their news is heavy, so seeing Don (Rick) or Joan (?) every so often is a break from that.

This video made me think about my jobs and why being a secretary felt so fake to me. I had the skills, but I didn’t fit in cause it wasn’t the right job for me. I tried hard cause my folks kept saying “You’re smart, you can do it.” This video shows how just having the skills isn’t enough for people with ADD.

My folks wouldn’t let me do what I really wanted to even when I was preparing for college. I tried telling them what I wanted to do, but they ignored me. I feel like I wasted my time and their money on a useless degree instead of a useful trade.

Now I work part time at a place where I do fit in, doing a job that is a better fit. I’ve been here for a few years and been promoted. That’s never happened to me before. Now I know why.

But if I had studied for the trade I really wanted to do, I’d have achieved what parents ultimately want for their adult kids: prosperity, independence, security and happiness. If I’d had this video back then, I could have told them this, and that studying the trade would have given me a better chance at what they wanted for me.

What a beautiful job you all did on this, from the ADD Men concept, to the “schtick,” to the well constructed editing which has resulted in a clear, concise and extremely informative aid for ADHD Adults!!!!!

Thank you for having me participate in this and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I intend to help market this with pride!!!

I belive the best way to take control of your ADHD is to learn more about it. There coulnt be a more ADHD and ADD friendly way of learning it than through this website.

I loved the way you made a challenging subject so interesting and, not only informative, but entertaining.

The career people with ADHD choose has a HUGE impact on how well they manage ADHD, after all we spend more than 50% of our waking day in work-related activities.

There is such a push from parents and others to push kids into a particular career, either because “it’s our family business” or “a good university education will give you the best chances of success”.

There’s also discussion about entrepreneurship (choosing to craft your own career), a route that many ADHD consider when all else goes sour.

I recommend this video for all my ADHD clients who are questioning their career choices.

This is a funny, attention grabbing video that has lots of great advice about career choices. As a result of watching this, I am looking for a Career Counselling Service that is ADD friendly. I will watch this video many times over time. Very reassuring to know a job for me is out there.

This might have been good, but I’m not 100% sure because I just couldn’t stick with it.

This video not only helped give me a clear, comprehensive plan for mapping out my next career move, it also helped my identify the things that haven’t worked for me thus far, and more importantly – WHY.

I’m recently diagnosed AND recently changed careers – although I believe what I’m doing now will be the ‘pitstop’ on my way to what really is my calling.
Thank you for reminding me to reevaluate my perceived weaknesses and turn them into strengths that can be valued in the right job, not to mention making me feel wonderfully empowered.

I’d recommend this not only for fellow ADHD’ers that are stuck in a job or career they hate, but for anyone who’d rather be doing something else. High school and college students would also benefit from watching. (I wish I’d seen something like this when I was in high school!)

Lots of great tools and insights. I highly recommend!
    Thank for making it!

I’ve watched this a half dozen times and have recommended it to a friend going through a job crisis. So true that there is no list of ADHD friendly careers. The right job for you depends on you. Know what environment you function well in, start with your strengths, do a job history, and talk about it with another person who knows you well. These are just a few of a lot of great insights.

I just have one disagreement with Rick Green’s opinion about not disclosing. I believe you should disclose in some circumstances when you have found the first route of non-disclosure to be unsatisfactory in getting necessary workplace accommodations. That’s what I did at my workplace, and; while it’s a job I consider to be transitory, I was able to negotiate work-from-home time and some office accommodations (with the help of a doctor’s note).
