I believe your 100% correct shutterbug55…….but if I may add dolphin….those things do not happen automatically. I can happen but…it takes time and effort and research on our own. I found the more I learned about how my brain works and the human development process in general (that is also very important), the more I could exploit the powers that lie within the ADD brain. The converse also appears to be true. Because we (all people) develop in specific steps and stages or tasks, through our lives, we as ADDers may miss steps, or critical tasks, or receive improper support or feedback during those critcal development process(s) which have the potential to send us reeling down the wrong paths or leave with uncompleted development steps. Therefore….we need to understand the process(s) and how our path have harmonized or were in conflict with those developmental phases or tasks. That’s how we become fully developed and functional people.
Without doing that work….. it’s like putting a child behind the wheel of a Grand Prix race car, you just wouldn’t do it and expect a good outcome!!! The life results can be devastating. There is much evidence of this as I read what some unfortunate folks are dealing with on a day by day basis.
I’m not a Dr., just an avid student of life…….
