REPORT ABUSEJuly 27, 2010 at 3:26 pm #93387So, how’d it go?
I’m only familiar with the crash & burn as Ritalin and Concerta wear off, and it can be nasty—especially if I’m under a lot of stress when it happens.

AnonymousInactiveJuly 28, 2010 at 2:01 amPost count: 14413Hi Larynxa, I’m still not too sure what’s considered coming down effects since I don’t really notice a come down per say. I did notice that the last two nights, after having taken Dex i get this overwhelming tiredness and usually fall asleep. It’s something I can’t fight that my eyes just close on their own. Today it happened while watching one of my fave tv shows. Not sure if that’s the crash or not??
Tomorrow I double my dose, should be interesting!
REPORT ABUSEJuly 28, 2010 at 12:39 pm #93389If you weren’t experiencing it before you started on the Dex, then the chances are pretty good that it’s the crash. Just make sure you’re not doing anything that could be dangerous when it happens…like, for instance, driving a car or working with power tools.

AnonymousInactiveJuly 28, 2010 at 8:52 pmPost count: 14413Thanks! I appreciate the reply. Luckily (I think?) I am a very busy girl! I have two small kids and am a sahm so I find that the crash hasn’t affected me until i’ve sat down to relax, which doesn’t usually happen until 8 or 9pm. So far driving and things seem fine but I will make sure to be more conscious of it.

AnonymousInactiveAugust 19, 2010 at 3:06 amPost count: 14413If you add a bit of short acting medication to the end of the long acting, it smoothes out the effect to avoid a huge crash. Just watch for sleep problems. If you are just using short acting medication, then use a step-down approach with each successive dose.

If you have kids you shouldn’t be risking your life by driving on dex. I’ve crashed a few times in dex related accidents soooo yeah, be safe.

REPORT ABUSEAugust 13, 2012 at 2:14 am #93394joseph why would you say that? i’ve never taken dex but do know it’s another stimulant used to treat ad/hd and, as such, should improve focus/attention and therefore driving – or am i missing something?
REPORT ABUSEAugust 13, 2012 at 3:29 am #93395As most of us know, all meds act differently on different people. Everyone would be wise to avoid doing anything involving physical risk when first taking any drug until its effects are known. Regardless of how safe they have been by others who have used them. (It’s a good idea to read the BS sheet that comes with the prescription describing everything about the drug. Not that I ever have, but failure to do so several years ago caused my son to almost go into liver failure. And none of the doctors could figure out why. Praise God for Google.)
I tend to think that all drugs are either poison (to some degree or another) or have a bunch of adverse side effects until proven otherwise. Guilty until proven innocent.
This is not to say that ADHD meds shouldn’t be tried or are not of tremendous benefit, but one should be careful when first getting on any med.

AnonymousInactiveAugust 13, 2012 at 6:02 amPost count: 14413On Ritalin, I had the “I love you, mans” for thirty minutes or so on the tail end of a dose. A bit euphoric. Though it sounds like it might be a cool thing, it was quite annoying and uncontrollable. I also lost hair while on it. Not fun. My goal with any meds is not feeling them.
REPORT ABUSEOctober 7, 2014 at 8:01 pm #126119My 4th day on Dexedrine and I’m getting ringing in my ears at night. Only taking 5mg mid-late morning
