I am going to speak with my doctor about medications. I watched all the medication videos. The piece I don’t get is all but the vyvance work only for 10 hours, most days we are up and about from 6am-11pmish. so 14-16 hours… what about those four to six hour of no effective medication on board. Our son is going to go see the doctor later this week about meds also. He is suffering with alcohol abuse and has worked really hard with a lot of success, but I know that night time the impulse control piece is problematic. Would a longer acting med serve him better, so he would have coverage right until bed time?
Thank you for this amazing website, I feel like I have spent about 12 hours this weekend reading and watching all the information, it is extraodinary and I thank you so much.

That said, I’ve tried things like Adderall XR and actually found that it worked TOO long — I couldn’t sleep at night! And when I didn’t sleep well, it multiplied my ADD symptoms the next day, which meant a higher dose, which meant less sleep… yikes.
What I’ve tried to do is save certain activities for those last four-ish hours of the day that I can do without the help of the medication. Random things, sometimes a few games to unwind, play with my daughter, etc. Having that wind-down time has not only helped me sleep better — I’m sleeping better than I have for most of my life!
