Adderall XR/IR vs Regular Adderall..

on regular adderall 10 mg twice a day but spoke over the phone briefly wih psych and he said something about switching to adderall XR or IR bc between work/school/kids etc it is difficult to stop life and take the second dose in middle of day and still be progressive and not mess me totally up for the night but my ? is how is the XR for ppl I am scared bc I am doing good with the regular but i do need it over the whole day and not have to stop or ask for a break or between a test or work to go take the second dose….and i cant just take it early as some said bc then its like wayyy too early….?? any responses??A

They started me on 20mg adderall xr once a day early AM (I take it at 5am, an hour before I go to work)

I’ve since gotten a paper from my neuro-psych that shows adderall only lasts in the system 8-12 hours. That means you take it in the AM, the first bit kicks in right away, the second bit kicks in after abotu 4 hours, then after another 4, it’s gone.

With me, I find early to mid afternoon it was as if I’d never taken it. Now after almost 4 weeks, my body has adapted and it’s like I don’t take anyting at all.

So they are doubling it – 20mg first thing in the AM, then another 20 at noon. WOW. That’s 40 a day!

As of end of this coming week, I’ll take a 20mg XR at 5am, then at 9am, the later release bit kicks in, and I take another 20 at noon, just before the first has totally worn off.

I hve found it worked a little bit the fist 2 weeks then lost its impact.
