REPORT ABUSEMay 17, 2012 at 7:16 pm #114471Hi Markus!
OMG Let’s make sure you keep your boy-bits!!!!
To me, one of the most powerful things you can say in a network is “How can I help you?”. In keeping with that, could you tell us the city/country you live in?
I live in the Seattle area, and know three Psychiatrists NOT to see and one who has been recommended to me. None of that info is useful if you live in Quebec.
REPORT ABUSEMay 18, 2012 at 4:45 am #114472My family doc prescribed mine. I tried seeing a psychiatrist in Seattle, but she didn’t believe in an ADHD diagnosis, so she prescribed anti-depressants because she was an idiot.
I’m in KS, now. Different state, different regulations, different doctors, so it’s hard to say. Mostly, I think people see psychologists or psychiatrist, though. Any doc can prescribe for it, but the psychologists seem to be able to treat the non-medicated symptoms. My family doc is pretty good, but after being on this site for a while, it seems like he may be an exception. He’s a bit ADHD himself, so maybe he’s just more familiar with ADHD than most.. I don’t know.
REPORT ABUSEMay 18, 2012 at 5:32 am #114473I went through Virgina Mason. They have a way of doing things and it involves working with their system. It’s a pain, but eventually everything gets done.
Glad you found someone. One thing that keeps me here in Seattle, is a lot of my contacts are here.
REPORT ABUSEMay 24, 2012 at 4:21 am #114474Hi and thanks. I’m in Vancouver BC. I’m going to see my GP in the morning regarding meds. I know she is not very knowledgeable when it comes to ADD med or anti depressants. I had to tell her about the difficult spot I’m in regarding Effexor and its side effects and difficulty in coming off of it so i can try something else. I’ll ask her for a referral to an adult add specialist and wait…..and wait and wait!
meanwhile a combo of Effexor and lavetra seems to be working for now….which kinda makes me depressed! vicious cycle!
