Id say my current job bieng a Dump truck driver. I think I feel more balanced because my eyes are constantly moving and theres always something new to look at going down the road. Im always paying more attention to detail on jobs sites (to avoid accidents) and love what I do everyday. HOWEVER, this is my 3rd year trucking so Im pretty comfortable with what I do, so (I’d say twice a week) if Im the phone or talking on the CB radio, I end up missing my turn!! And sometimes its very frustrating to turn around a large truck or go take a longer different way plus its a waste of time and I can lose money. Ive been doing this for almost a year now and the worse part of it is, some of the meds like adderall is considered “speed” , so the state I live in wont allow CDL drivers to take that kind of a controlled substance to help with multi-tasking. I hear people say a doctors excuse and getting my boss involed (possible higher insurance rates) may allow me to take meds on the road but Im afraid that may be looked at differently or they may be afraid that Im condsidered a liability. Im #2 out of #10 on the senority list at work already so Im hoping that will help. but then again, if that the only problem that I have developed, I suppose I can just deal with it.
