I made it!?!
Went from HS drop-out and longshoremen, to joining the infantry (PPCLI), to being diagnosed with ADHD, to graduating from university (English/History) then graduate school (history), to becoming a teacher (UBC BEd) to teaching in secondary and, finally, ending up 'at home': teaching adult alternative education in Vancouver's Downtown East side as a Vancouver School Board Adult Educator.
Teaching to this crew is about as good as it gets: a bunch of students, like me...and, I'm Lovin' It ;-)
