AnonymousInactiveJune 21, 2011 at 7:12 pmPost count: 14413I have been on 20mg of Adderall XR for 2 weeks now. I have been experiencing the tightening in the chest that I have read others complain about. I feel like I can’t take a deep breath and I cough when I do. Although I know others experience it and it is common, it still causes me to feel very anxious!……..So I called the doc today and he told me to go off it. I have an apt. in 2 weeks to discuss other options……..I am so discouraged! I was determined to be one of those that only had to try one drug and I’d be set……..I have read the horror stories of others having to constantly switch till they found the right one…..I didn’t want that to be me
REPORT ABUSE………I’m just wondering if the tightening in the chest could be permanent???………I know everyone is different but does it wear off eventually???

AnonymousInactiveJune 22, 2011 at 3:17 amPost count: 14413Hi Survivor! I used to take Adderrall xr 15 mg once a day and liked it at first. But then after a few days I felt like it was just too much, my heart seemed to be racing and I too experienced a tightness in the chest and a feeling of being just too tightly wound. I had to stop it after a week and “detox” for a few days, then start again. But each time I stopped it, I got really depressed for a few days. So eventually I stopped it altogether.
I am thinking that maybe a smaller dose would be good. I tried Adderrall generic 5mg just for working days, and it seemed to help me focus. Hope that helps! Good luck
