Oh yeah, it’s illegal alright. However, employers can get away with just about anything. It depends a lot on the type of job, if you belong to a union or not, how long you have worked there etc. And, most importantly, it depends on how they dismissed you, what reason they gave. No one can stop them from using any other reason besides the WSIB claim to get rid of you.
But there is also nothing to stop you from reporting it. If you suspect that is what happened then go ahead and report it. At least you’ll feel better knowing you stood up for yourself.
