You can find much research on the link between people with ADHD and alcoholism & drug abuse. It’s been stated by many sources that approximately 5% to 6% of the population as a whole has ADHD. Research will show that something over 25% (possibly much higher) of alcoholics and/or addicts have ADHD/OCD, etc… Alcohol is often used (and abused) by ADHD people to quiet their brains, but there are obviously many negative side effects. Many ADHD people self-medicate, and it just doesn’t work.
