trashman: there is a provincial law in Ontario that allows you to refuse work that is unsafe, while not allowing the employer to penalize you. Sounds to me like this is the situation with you. Have a talk with a labour lawyer and check the provincial government website for your province: I’m sure these laws exist across Canada.
