I’m on the brand name Ritalin because my psychiatrist told me that it works much better than the generic. I’ve never been on the generic so I can’t say if that is true. But the brand name stuff is working just fine for me. 
I think it helps that I have my parents drug plans still because I’m under 25 and still a student. Plus my parents are divorced so I can use my step dad’s plan as well. The University also offers a benefits plan. So because I have four plans to work from I can layer everything until I don’t have to pay anything at all. It’s really a blessing.
