Yeah, I’d agree about the music for sure.
The era doesn’t matter. Add (see?) your own color. It’s all ugly in that situation, and yet, looking back, I did some of my best stuff, being hyper vigilant, while there, and it seems (with emphasis!) that I was more alive then.
The time you appreciate the stress and shock you have learned to deal with in war is when you find yourself at the scene of an accident, and you are the only one who can deal with the blood, disorder, threat (from burning car, what-have-you)and you walk in with your eyes open when other people are afraid of the unknown.
THAT is when you can appreciate being able to shut off emotion and the rest, and carry on. I think all adhd and adders have it to some extent, just from calluses we grew while trying to grow up with it. Those people that look at you are in amazement, but to you, it’s just another day,y’know?
As a vet, let me ask you: which is better, something that is ugly as sin but does it’s job, or something pretty, sweet, and useless?
I’ve lived with that ugly all my life, and have beaten myself senseless trying to make it do its job, and I will back anyone who will try to do so.
I read all of the stuff, and folks seem to think our situation is something bad. I would tell you that : To ADD, is to enhance, make greater, improve, build up, leave it better than you found it. I refuse to think I’m wrong.
We are like the fish trying to climb the tree to please the squirrel while he belittles us.Everyone says we are broken, until they are trying to move their nuts upstream, and then they’re amazed that we can do that so easily in the face of their best failed efforts.
The “normal” world has certain rules that work great in the normal world.Kinda like the laws of physics. But, if reality were to change ever so slightly, and water suddenly would burn, all those rules change.
If the ADD/ADHD people were the dominant specie, the “normal people” would be the “impaired” and we could all laugh and throw stones at THEM for a lifetime or so, and see how THEY react to being called “MISFIT !” by the Higher Authority and all their mindless followers.
My personal belief, sans the formality of religion, is that GOD DON’T MAKE NO JUNK! We are as perfect as any, and when He said “respect thy father and mother” I do. But if he made humor too, then I can rib Him a little like my Dad, too. If He doesn’t have a sense of humor, and maybe even a little ADD of His own to play with, then where did we and a platypus come from?
Yes, young lady. We have a better slot than what even WE might think, and what you want to do Is ADD to it!
