I’m left handed and have had difficulty with left and right as it is a relative term depending on which way you are facing. If we are facing each other or travelling in opposite directions, my left is your right.
I do not have this problem with port and starboard, but then those terms aren’t relative to which way a person is facing.
I also use north, south, east, and west over left and right.
