We always seem to have trouble stopping the racing thoughts, so we can fall asleep at night. Here’s a cartoon that illustrates that unpleasantness:

It also reminds me of the title of a Frantics stage show, back in the ’80s: “Ideas That Come to You in the Middle of the Night, So You Get Up and Write Them All Down, But Can’t Make Head Nor Tail of Them in the Morning”.
