That was my experience too, we both went to two appointments together.
Tea, the office visits are covered by OHIP (Ontario’s health insurance plan) but there is a fee on top of that for testing, which some here have complained about, as if it should all be free. I don’t have a problem with it. I have seen other people working in his office (not just receptionist) so I assume they are part of that expense. It’s not expensive if you measure it against having a better quality of life, the meds are probably what will cost more, but having a correct diagnosis and proper meds will make a world of difference.
You might look into someone in Vancover. The problem with any specialist is that they are hard to get to see, appointments are booked well forward, and they can change, so if you’re travelling a long distance, that can be very frustrating. I go as far as Toronto for some of my appointments, but we are used to going there every week anyways. Finding someone to tweak the diagnosis and help you work through meds sounds like it can be a long process. Worth it.
