AnonymousInactiveDecember 11, 2010 at 4:37 pmPost count: 14413hi there,
(I just registered for this forum, today. I am a 33 yr old female grad student in Ottawa; I have ADHD, NVLD/AS, & dyscalculia).
Yes, it is true : I was an adult patient of Dr Ahmed’s in Halifax. Two years ago, I relocated to Ottawa for grad school; however, I kept in contact with Dr Ahmed, and saw her whenever I visited Halifax. She moved to Windsor in September of this year. From what I gather, she’s consulting in several different clinics. I’ll enquire as to which ones.
(If you can get in to see her, DO IT! She is fantastic : knowledgeable, dedicated, warm, and she doesn’t hesitate to go to battle for her patients, if need be).

Getting down to Windsor isn’t always feasible, and it would be nice to also have someone close by.

(i.e., *not* Windsor, NS, if that was what you were thinking).

sjly, could you please let us know her new address and phone number.
thank you
REPORT ABUSEJanuary 13, 2011 at 4:26 pm #96524Z: I believe “sjly” said she would contact the good doctor and try to find out which clinic she may be working at. Could take some time.
SJLY: My brother was diagnosed and treated by a doctor, who may have been a psychiatrist, in the Orleans area of Ottawa. I will ask him for the details and his take on their care. Please be patient, though – my brother is very slow in getting back to people.

REPORT ABUSEJanuary 15, 2011 at 4:43 am #96526SJLY: I heard back from my brother. He saw 2 people about ADHD issues in the Ottawa area about 10 years ago. He didn’t remember their names right off the bat, but he remembered the areas where their offices were so he did some searching and believe he saw these 2 people:
diagnosed by: Dr Richard Glatt who is an ‘educational psychotherapist’. Interestingly he does computer based testing in ADD diagnosis. Here is a blurb about him: http://www.oaccpp.ca/richardglatt.html
treated by: Dr Daniel Mahar, 613-237-7873 101A-858 Bank St, Ottawa, ON K1S 3W3
I’m not sure if Dr. Mahar is a psychiatrist or medical doctor.

AnonymousInactiveJanuary 22, 2011 at 1:39 pmPost count: 14413hello!
turbo, thank you very much for the information! I am indebted to you. (Incidentally, I just discovered that Dr Maher is a physician — an agreeable factoid, since this entails that OHIP will cover his services).
Thank you also for volunteering an alibi for me. However, to be entirely honest, obtaining Dr Ahmed’s new contact information required only a modicum of effort : I had it within 24 hours of the initial post.
Then the holidays started, & I grew distracted.
Then the holidays ended, but the winter semester commenced & I became hyperfocused on ruling patterns & mise-en-page in 15th century legal manuscripts.
Then, I suddenly remembered that I needed post her contact information … yet I had forgotten my password for the site.
After a period of procrastination I reset it, but then I procrastinated about logging in & completing the task.
Now, finally!, here I am — after resetting my password yet again —, and here is the requisite information :
Dr Tahira Shah Ahmed
Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital
1030 Oullette Ave
Windsor ON N9A 1E1
Phone: (519) 973-4444 Ext. 3354
or
Children’s Health Care Network
Market Square Room 440
2109 Ottawa Street
Windsor ON N8Y 1R8
Phone: (519) 948-3961
Tell her that Steph (latterly of Halifax — Dr. J., I feel your pain — & currently of Ottawa) sent you
.
[For future reference, if someone recommends a physician to you, but the professional’s contact information remains a manifest mystery, use the CPSO’s online “All Doctors Search” engine to look them up : http://www.cpso.on.ca/docsearch/ It’s a great little tool].

Just love your commentary re: busyness, procrastination, forgetfulness, all rolled up into a wonderful ‘life-clip’ of a true ADDer. I had to laugh as I read this thread with your responses. Not laughing at you but with you. You could easily have been describing ME! All the best to you in grad school!
