I’m looking for an adult (not child) with ADHD who has had direct experience – how did it help, what was the cost, is it easy to learn, how long did it take?
I’ve looked it up on the internet, no info at our local library, saw several books on amazon, but don’t want to buy the book just yet, and the local person here charges $360 for a workshop.

AnonymousInactiveJanuary 11, 2012 at 3:42 pmPost count: 14413I guess I’m going to be a test case here. I read some stuff on wikipedia, but I really wanted to hear from someone with direct experience. I’ve had some positive personal experience with people who used kinesiology in their professional practices (massage and orthodontics) and I think it’s worth a try provided it’s not too expensive. I’ll report back.

AnonymousInactiveJanuary 12, 2012 at 5:03 amPost count: 14413I’ve had some dribs and drabs of it when I’ve attended a few workshops for teachers over the years. I absolutely hated it. I gleaned no joy or satisfaction from the going through the manouvers. It actually was more of a stressful experience as it seemed like a poor use of time. This stuff is supposed to help us….or someone….and exactly how is that? Really???
I know there are some real supporters for it out there but I also know there are big supporters of people eating grubs as part of a cheap diet, high in protein. Brain Gym may be helpful for some just as grubs are great at providing cheap protein for others. Just count me out.
I’m better at settling my brain down by using just about anything else other than Brain Gym. If it were so good, why does it get so little attention in the education field? Sure, some teachers won’t try anything new but the ones that I’ve known to try it out didn’t give it rave reviews. Brain Gym smacks of $$$ to me. It was always BG people who came to demonstrate for us. It’s called marketing.
With the amount of exposure it has had in the school systems in North America, I would have expected that all schools’ ills would have been ‘cured’ by now if it was a ‘real’ help. I think just about anyone would be smarter (and richer) if they all just went back to doing all the little finger plays they learned in nursery school or kindergarten. 😆
Edit: It made me want to poke my eyes out. That’s what I tell my friends when I’ve had to be involved in an activity that seemed like it was wasting my time. (Gosh, I am sounding grumpy, aren’t I?)

REPORT ABUSEJanuary 13, 2012 at 1:58 pm #111168I think I did the brain game in a study. Did not work for me. Instead, it made me more upset and frustrated that I would stop and forget about.
