Not reading that letter which your specialist sent to her, is most unprofessional. If a specialist expresses concern about the treatment you are receiving from your doctor, that’s very serious indeed.

As it appears that your doctor is being so obtrusive (if not, downright hostile), it may be worthwhile for you to contact the College of Physicians & Surgeons, to discuss the situation. Ask them for advice.

If her behaviour & attitude are jeopardizing your treatment (and it sounds as if they are), then it’s definitely cause for concern.

The letter was really intended to help me broach the subject with my family doctor. It had never been brought up before. But I think if I’ve booked an appointment for a specific thing, and the doctor receives something regarding me from another professional (it was sent several weeks before my appointment), then she should have read it or at least been aware of its presence.

I wonder if the ADHD specialist could work with me on treatment (tweaking the meds) so that I don’t have to battle it out with my family doc. I’m not opposed to her knowing what’s going on but I would rather deal with her as little as possible.

For several years, I was going to the walk-in clinic because I couldn’t get in to see my family doc. Every time I called about a problem, I was told I should go to the walk-in.
