In dealing with doctors, the one I have now, “Isn’t comfortable with it.” So, I have to wait yet another month for the next one. I’v been tested many times for learning disabilities starting in community college. So, I know I have ADHD. The new doctor thinks he can test. I can’t seem to get a straight answer if he can. No public help is available. If he can’t do it, that’s it. No way of getting on meds.

Does anyone know of any free testing to pass on to a doctor?

    Filmbuff,

I’m actually up in Canada so I can’t give you any leads that would be meaningful for free testing that would be meaningful for you. However, it might be helpful if you listed the state you are living in. I know up here that each province has slightly different ways of handling medical testing so my Ontario advice would be pretty much useless to anyone else up here living in another province.

I’m sure the same the same thing probably applies down your way, especially since you have your medical plans (the name you use for the medical insurers escapes me right now) and each one probably has its own policy for coverage. Perhaps if you listed your state it might prompt others who live in the same state to offer their ideas/information for free testing.

    Just a thought….

I live in CA. I’m on government health what little coverage there is. It’s headache to deal with them. I’d move to Canada if I had the money and a job.

As I understand it, the Brown ADD scale is the gold standard of self-evaluation forms. Unfortunately, these forms are far from free.

It’s hard to imagine a doctor’s office not having some kind of evaluation form. What’s up with that?

There are many free online tests, such as this one:

    http://www.oneaddplace.com/add-test.php

They don’t give a print-out option but you can probably do a screen print, or just copy the questions to show your doctor, or send your doctor to the website in his office and do it there in front of him.

Just noticed under “Tools” on the menu, there are “Downloads,” and in the downloads section there is a PDF of a questionnaire you could take to your doctor.

The questionnaires on this site include the one my doctor used to diagnose me.

http://www.askdrsears.com has good ADD links, including a test, but it’s more suited for children.
