I recall that Rick and Ava have mentioned Goldie Hawn’s MindUP program, which teaches kids mindfulness and emotional awareness. http://thehawnfoundation.org/mindup/
The MindUP program is very successfully helping kids to understand their emotions, and how to express them verbally, instead of being at the mercy of those strong emotions. (I wish we’d had that program here, when I was a kid.)
On September 10th, in Toronto, Goldie is being honoured for her MindUp work, which is just coming into Canada.

The one thing I disagree with in the article is the statement from Best Buddies: “Don’t put a kid on drugs if they have ADD. Hold them by the arm and help teach them. We’ve got to reach out to our children. We’ve got to teach our children.”
That’s like saying, “If your kid can’t see clearly, don’t give him glasses.”
