Marixdad…………careful with the absolutes……not everybody with ADD is also hyper……..there are so many degrees of both or either that to be absolute maybe somewhat misleading. For you that maybe be true but there is a large world out there with a vast spectrum in it so………….leave room maybe for another picture.

I can speak only for me and I’m mostly ‘hyper-light”….hahahahahahaha……very situational.

I’m with GameGuy….what situation???? can you be more descriptive…more detail. We are always willing to listen……go ahead give it a kick.

Marixdad is actually right…ADHD is the current technical term, while ADD is an antiquated one. Yet in common parlance, some often say ADHD when they mean ADHD hyperactive or combined type, while they say ADD when they mean ADHD inattentive type.

I hope to see the day when people start unifying the language used to talk of the disorder rather than using a hodgepodge of terms that mean one thing to one person and another thing to another. Sure the general idea is the same, but ADHD is the term of the times, and ADD is something sticking around for some reason. Perhaps it’s a desire for those with the inattentive type to be distinct from those with the hyperactive/impulsive or combined type. Nevertheless, the brain chemistry is similar enough for it to all be considered the same disorder, just with different subtypes.

Actually, there is a sub group of the ADHD-Inattentive group that are increasingly seen as not ADHD at all. The term used is Sluggish Cognitive Tempo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sluggish_cognitive_tempo). As ADHD is a spectrum disorder, there is also more thought into the importance of the hyperactive element. Perhaps the presence of hyperactivity is more an indication of severity and less of a separate subtype.

Perhaps what Anitanorris meant was “I am ADHD-Combined type and my friend is SCT.” That would make for a very odd pairing indeed.
