REPORT ABUSEFebruary 17, 2011 at 6:26 am #100927There are a few in the Edmonton area but they all charge a lot of money. If your son is under 18 go to Children’s Mental Health at Northgate and ask about doing an intake. They will provide services free of charge. They will then more then likely refer you to one of the ADD doctors at Glenrose Hospital. Or you can try directly. Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital 10230 111 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta T5G 0B7 780-735-7928. The doctors there are very good but they mostly want to look at report cards and administer medication. If you are talking an Adult Child then you have to have him referred through Adult Mental Health and this is usually done on a pro-rated basis depending on income. This is done through the City of Edmonton. You can also try calling Health Link and they will make a referral to the best service that meets your needs. There is not a lot of adult resources in the Edmonton region the following is the link to the Psychologists who are offering specific ADHD counselling in this city. http://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/prof_results.php?city=Edmonton&state=AB&spec=6. Good luck. I personally had my daughter do both the Glenrose and Alberta Children Mental Health. If they are good at keeping appointments they do a decent enough job.

AnonymousInactiveFebruary 18, 2011 at 7:06 pmPost count: 14413Thanks for your reply. I’ve set up an appointment with Childrens mental health in Sh. Park, which is closest to us, waiting till the end of March though. Thing is i’ve already got a diagnosis and we’ve done the tests, we just need a doctor to treat.. I am hoping that Children’s mental health is not going to make us do that all over again. I would prefer just seeing a family doctor, so I am now looking for one, since my g.p. is not receptive. Thanks again.
REPORT ABUSEFebruary 18, 2011 at 9:31 pm #100929Dr. Nahirney is the Edmonton ADD specialist at the Glenrose and that is who you want to work through. He will probably have you come in to the clinic monthly to start and then just when the report cards come in. He also does all the dispensing of Medications for the ADD.
