I am sure I have read somewhere that raising dopamine levels will push down serotonin levels in the brain?

Starting Concerta is making me alert which is a welcome change, but I’m guessing the bouts of sadness may be about more than the big emotional change from diagnosis while also being a bit isolated.

Is it possible to get adequate serotonin in the system while dopamine is being given priority?

Based on what i have read Concerta (methylphenidate)

Concerta increases the levels of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain through reuptake inhibition of the monoamine transporters. It also increases the release of dopamine and norepinephrin. It does not affect serotonin levels.

You can increase serotoin levels(promote better mood) through diet, exercise and natural supplements.
