I was diagnosed with ADD as a child and was prescribed Ritalin.

As an adult I don;t take any medication but still show traits, but there’s kind of part of my personality.

I’l alway’s loosing my keys, getting lost not paying attention to where someone parked there car, etc.

I have a car licence but didnt dribe much because of my attentivness.

I had heard that some ADD’er have had sucess with remaining focused on motorbikes.

My question is should I try riding a motorbikes or do you think that’s it’s already dangerous enough without adding the ADD to it.

In a way I think ADD had affected my confidence to operate a vehicle, in some way I was hoping getting my motorcycle licence and getting back on the road might help out. Interested to hear back from any other ADD’ers that ride motobikes and what kind of experince they have had with it versus driving a car.

Hi I started riding last year one of my impulsive things I have bought . I had a motor bike back when I was 16 years old always wanted to ride never had the money. stil don’t but in a inpulsive moment I bought a new bike . so I signed up for the corse and off I went. the only problem is my distractability. the first week of driving I was passing a big truck and I guess I was being my same old self. and whent to far over to the left side of my lane and hit the curb , well the bike went sliding down the lane and I went sliding along the bullavard on my belly.I hurt my left knee and my pride and my bike had sone minor damage. all ang all I stll have trouble paying attention. I still ride I love it , but now I try really hard to keep my mind on my rideing . my sore knee helps remind me. will I keep riding ? yes but if you don’t drive a car because you have trouble paying attention the I would say don’t ride or like me hang on for the ride it can get scarry at times . but I do love it. I can tell you since that crash there have been some close calls , but so far so good.

Hi Frank, I dont ride myself but pedel two wheels when i can. Driving a car was never a great experience for me. I’ve been in multiple collisons all under 5 mph, and my license was suspended for speeding in 2002. I’ve thought about getting a bike myself, they are cheeper to opperate, and are better in trafic to some extent as long as you dont have to sit for long in the summer or anything. I have asked other riders in my family what they thought and with no suprise was told that i’d kill myself, and that I cant ride a bicycle without crashing. Granted i have a great collection of scars, most were due to riding a 20″ and not a road bike, then there was that pot hole that I ate with a dislocated shoulder. The point is that I allowed myself to be scared into not buying one, not getting my opperators license and all that stuff and i’m still riding the bus, or a bike, or bumming a ride. Walking is nice but gets old after you start to consider 5 miles as walking distance. Oh yeah I dont think it matters on this one but when i was wanting a bike i didnt know I had ADHD, whether or not it would have made a difference in the responses I got I really dont know. One of the persons asked is an old biker from back in the day that used to hang with the sons of silence although never a member. The other is a former AMA super bike rider, both concure that i’d do poorley.

I wish I would have been impulsive on this one
