A lot of disorders (like ADHD) are made up of common traits, but taken to the extreme. Everyone gets distracted sometimes. Everyone forgets things sometimes. Everyone has trouble settling into sleep sometimes.
It’s very easy for someone to say that it’s not a disorder but a trait, when in fact the trait is so extreme that it has *become* a disorder. And this is where a lot of people who are not trained in the field start to cry “wolf” and claim that we’re all just trying to turn our kids into compliant little zombies.
