First post, some info about myself. I am a 37 year old male living in Ottawa, Ontario. I’ve been told I’ve had ADHD all my life by my parents, and a few of my friends. On one level, I do believe them, but at the same time, this is ‘normal’ for me. However, looking at my current situation right now (Out of work, and on social assistance, although that’s also partially due to a physical issue) and having seen the movie (Parents, bless them, recorded it), there are some resonance at how severe this really affects my life. Much more than I though possible…

The real question is though, is there an ADHD Specialist in the Ottawa region that is taking patients so I could get an answer one way or another? Assuming of course, someone knows of one.

Also, before I forget, I took the virtual doctor test, and according to it, I’ve got 18 out of the 18 on the list (At varying levels) which prompts me to think I need to have this looked into at the very least.

If you have a GP they should be able to refer you, and/or Google…. ADD Support group in the Ottawa area….. there should be at least one…..they should be able to direct you to a ADD Specialist as well.

Don’t have a GP, too scatterbrained to get one… But I’ll check the Google route, thank you.

Although you will need a referral, there is nothing stopping you from shopping out psychologist in the mean time. I have a GP, but I found my own psychologist. I went back to my Gp , and he had no problem writing a referral to my choice of psychologist. In Ottawa there are many qualified to investigate for ADHD, many for youth, and some who deal with adults.
