So, my doctor seems to think I have ADD. I haven’t had an appointment with him yet to start treatment. But he said he in general does not treat with amphetamine, but prefers psychoanaleptiques. So my question is, are these psychoanaleptics effective or should I look for another doctor? I would be a shame though because this doctor treated my depression for years (don’t have it anymore) and I was very pleased with how attentive he was for me to get the right medication with the right dose.

I also understood he will not go through any tests to do the diagnosis. I described some of my symptoms and he seems not to have a doubt that I have it. He know me well though.

I’d ask this question in the Ask An Expert section.

Psychoanaleptics are medications that produce an arousing effect, like stimulants or other medications like Effexor XR that have a noradrenaline component to them.

Amphetamines are a type of psychoanaleptics.
