So, my mother was alright when other family members were diagnosed with ADD/ADHD but at the thought of being diagnosed herself was dreadful (something about she’s not crazy). Now that she has an empty nest, thus no one to blame for her messes except herself and my dad, it’s getting worse and she’s not willing to deal with it since she’s not the one with the problem.
With that said, any recommendations on how to go about this? It’s only about 30 years in the making. Personally, I think it’s about time she faces the music, or the mess, and gets tested. Have any of you had to break it to other family members that they are probably ADHD with the full blown symptoms, i.e. can’t organize, messes in their wake, talks too fast, doesn’t pay attention very well to anything?
