It’s short and sweet, but what do I do now? My family reffered me to this sight, it explained everything exactly how it was and is. Where do I go to get this figured out? anyone?

Hi. Lenouail……first I would find a good MD or consult you’re GP for a referral to an ADD Specialist for an accurate diagnosis. In the mean time read everything you can find about ADD and ADHD.

Educate yourself….. it will do nothing but benefit you in your consultation visits!!!! Do it now…..

If you have not watched ADDand loving it do so. See his traits. When you can see yourself and say O God thats me you are on your way. I had gone to a Psychiatrist for depression and anxiety– he missed it – Prozac and Zanax help….

My wife saw the program ADDandlovingst. She suggested we watch it together. It fit. I went to a New Psychiatrist and he was right on…

Thank God for the new meds. I have my life back. The anxieties have disappeared. Yes I can think and remember where I laid the tool down.

    Hey there!

It’s a wacky realization isn’t it? I know when I figured it out, everything began to make sense.

If you can afford an assessment, go get one. You probably don’t need it though. Talk to your GP and see what can be done. Then talk about cognitive behavioural therapies and meds with him/her to see how you can use and manage your ADHD.

Honestly, it’s not a bad thing. For me, figuring it out meant so much. Like Hans, I was misdiagnosed. Now, I can think, get things done etc. I’m a better partner, better mom, and more creative than ever.

    Good luck on the journey.

A year ago, I went to a therapist to talk about my depression. Within 10 minutes she was asking me about ADD/ADHD. I was like, “What?” Never, in my wildest dreams, did I think ADD was my issue. A little research, a referral to a psychiatrist for formal evaluation, & I was on my way. I can’t take stimulants because of blood pressure issues. Someday I may get that resolved & get to try the stims. I was already taking bupropion for the depression. The psych bumped up the dosage, which helped. In reality, I’m still all over the place, but now I understand WHY. I’ve embraced a few habits which help me be functional. My smart phone has alarms & reminders for everything.

Ask yourself, ” In which area of my life does ADHD cause me the most problem?” And start there. Work was my biggest immediate problem. The bupropion helped my concentration. I got rid of the clutter, so I could focus on one thing at a time on my desk. I write task lists & look at them frequently. I ask my coworkers to not just tell me something, but to write it down. I ask them (nicely) to not interrupt me at all, if I’m trying to get something done. That kind of thing. It works! Now I have to figure out how to cope with a very low tolerance for frustration. My temper has ruined my relationships. It’s gotta go, or have a healthier outlet.

Before my Dr would prescribe medication he had me monitor my blood pressure. After medication (Focalin Xr 20mgs) my highs went down from mid 120’s to 105’s or less. My lows went down- mid 80’s to mid 70’s and my heart rate went up from 50-60’s to mid 70’s.

As an added note I have a Right Bundle Branch Block, a pre trigger and my blood pressure is higher on my right arm than my left..

Sort a think my pump is faster so I don’t need the pressure.

    Goog luck in your journey.

Hans…if I may…the RBBB is an abnormal electrical circuit in your heart. I’m sure you have researched it since diagnosis. But I will be happy to answer any questions you may have on the subject. I have worked in the cardiac cath lab for over 20 years and lots of my patients have the the same types of issues you have described.

Your RBBB won’t have anything to do with the blood pressure in your right arm being higher than your left. The fact that your pressure is lower in your left arm could be a sign of a blockage in the artery to your left arm. Sometimes the blockage could be from plaque (atherosclerosis) or even from the clavicle and the ribs being too close together on that side (Thoracic Outlet Syndrome). Do you have symptoms in your left arm? Do you experience numbness or pain when you use it, or when you hold it over your head? Is the pulse in your left wrist different from the right? Do you ever have dizziness when you turn your head a certain way?

If you have none of these symptoms then it’s usually not a problem that requires attention. But if you do, mention it to your doctor.

Otherwise, whenever you are having your blood pressure taken, always use your right arm. That one will be more accurate.

Hope you don’t mind the unsolicited advice:)

Thanks for your advice. Shared knowledge is wonderful. It is sad how many persons do not understand the compassion involved in giving it.

I love unsolicited advice if given in the right spirit. Since I give it out so easily also and can’t stop myself from trying to help people.

    On the heart issues

I have gone to a cardialogist and had everything checked out. The right arm blood pressure thing I have know about for 35 years. My ex father in law was a doctor.

The pre trigger had me worried – I thought my heart was skipping a beat and it could just stop. I was stressed out and worried- tied in knots.

I asked the DR what happens if the rear bundle branch gets blocked. His Reply –your heart goes to 60 beats a minute and you get a pacemaker…anxiety gone.

One again thankyou for sharing your knowledge Beignet
