Hi, I do feel for you. I got diagnosed this year.. I’m 56! I never took earning very seriously and now I’m living on a very low wage. Most of my friends are retired or just about to retire and go travelling etc. I tell you it’s not a great place to be. I also now have chronic fatigue (M.E.) and I am sure it is due to the fact that I have been fighting ADHD all my life and trying to be ‘normal’. Don’t do it it’s not worth it. So I suppose all I would say is that you are 18, there is no rush, but I would take all the constructive help you can get from those who understand you and what you face with ADHD. You have a chance of a worthwile and rewarding life. It’s worth putting in the effort now so you don’t lose out later.
One other thought. How about the trades. I have friends who are tradesmen and love thier work. Every job is different, you can earn well and its so often to do with problem solving. But that’s just a thought.
    Bless you.

Hi, this is an interesting one. My husband and I both have Chronic Fatigue. I think that his introvert nature and the anxiety that goes with it may have contributed to it. But for me.. I had undiagnosed ADHD and only realised after I crashed with CFS. So.. I believe that teh stress of undiagnosed ADHD very much contributed to my Fatigue crash. Maybe if you have been successful with your ADHD it may contribute to good health, but if, like me, you’ve lived among ordinary folks who have jobs and live life in straight lines.. you will probably find the stress gets you one day!

Hi, Thanks for your advice Jimi, about getting those who doubt to watch the prog. Firstly, I am from the UK and doubt I could get the programme, and secondly, my husband is rather suspicious of all things American (far too cheerful). So I am going to start a blog that may be more accessible to British folks. Hmm we’ll see.We are such a cynical lot!

I just found out.. but I am in humour section.. you’ll see why.. When I was diagnosed, I still wasn’t sure weather it was true. However, the next day I was in B&Q (A large DIY chain in the UK) with my daughter. We stood at the check out for 10 minutes with one woman trying to answer everyones questions and a queue (line to you) of about 20. I got the manager and marched her to the checkouts… then in a loud voice I announced ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, I have the manager here, would you all like to tell  her how you feel about this situation’.. I was most polite, just rather loud and bizaar according to my daughter who was by now beating a hasty retreat. All I got was silence from the 20 ‘Has this been frustrating’ I called again.. one little brave voice piped up ‘yes’. By then the manager had also beat a hasty retreat. I gave a theatrical ‘thank you and left’. Ok.. the diagnosis may just have been correct!
