Actually, I would be surprised to find that either of the two weird things necessarily indicate ADD, ODD, OCD, or any other mental condition, although #2 may certainly be more prevalent with anxiety.
As seen in the above posts, there are many in the ADHD community that experience these two things, but I doubt that the relative prevalence is greater than it is outside our community in the realm of the “normal.” Perhaps some of our members who are not ADHD, the spouses, health care professionals, and parents, could help us out on this one. When these weird things occur to a greater extent and become an impairment in your ability to function then it’s a problem.
I get a sense that many of the members have been misdiagnosed with a wide variety of disorders before correctly getting an ADHD diagnosis. Don’t blame yourself on an improper diagnosis. Your ADD will have you talking all over the place and possibly quite excitedly about the symptoms you experience.
I would recommend you make notes to take to your appointments so you don’t forget to mention or ask about things you think about beforehand. This gives you time to work on the wording so that it will make sense. (I should follow my own advice on this one.) You can also rate things as to how important or debilitating they are for you. Have a copy to leave when you go.
There are all kinds on this site, so I don’t think you would be alone in any of your behaviors.
Good luck.
