AnonymousInactiveMarch 2, 2011 at 8:16 pmPost count: 14413Hey guys,
I’m curious to know which dose you guys are on daily?
I’ll start with myself, i’m currently on 36mg which after about a week is not enough especially later on in the day. I will be speaking to my Dr in about 10 days and will more than likely switch to 54mg.
So what about you?

AnonymousInactiveMarch 15, 2011 at 10:53 pmPost count: 14413I took my first dose today (18mg) and it worked well, but the end of it feels a little different than the Ritalin I was taking twice a day up to today. The dosage seems to be fine for me–I had a productive day and I feel great. I think it’s starting to wear off though, because my brain is only intermittently normal right now.

“Oh look, someone else replied to it already”
No, dufus, that was your reply.
What’s my name again?

But I am starting to feel better on days when I don’t take it then on days when I do.
Not sure what that means yet, I was on anti depressants for a long time and after 2 months off those I think they have ‘left the building’ so maybe this is clarity? I actually feel like getting back to projects that have been sitting for 2 years.
I wonder how much stress and changes in life as we get older cause our ability to cope to get out of whack? Mix in the reduced time we give to getting outside and exercise as we age, no wonder we get into a place where being productive is impossible. Plus we are told that there is a pill for every ailment and believe that a pill will make everything better, which of course is BS. I’m starting to feel this is 33% genetics, 33% motivation and 33% attitude. We can only control motivation and attitude, but that’s the biggest part.

Going to the doc on monday to see what we can do to get me back on the Concerta. I lost 40 pounds with in the first few months of using it!
(I had that much to loose, and a bit more… )

REPORT ABUSEApril 6, 2011 at 10:29 pm #101496I take 54 mg.
REPORT ABUSEAugust 27, 2011 at 5:59 pm #101497After 2 weeks of ramping up on plain methylin pills, I went to 54 mg Concerta. I can’t imagine less- this works great and few side effects. I do need to figure out hoe to time it so the come down occurs at the least disruptive time in my evening. Still working out minor bugs but very pleased overall.

AnonymousInactiveAugust 27, 2011 at 8:57 pmPost count: 14413Recently I had a terrible experience, 2 weeks in, on Adderal XR.( due to shortage of…) Previously took methylphenidate and Ritalin. I do not feel it is working as well as I would like. I take 20mg sr 2x’s a day. Sounds like perhaps I should check out Concerta…..( I have been on meds for over 17 yrs.) Currently ( since last Sept)out of work and drifting…..
REPORT ABUSEAugust 27, 2011 at 10:06 pm #101499Lakelly, I think Concerta has the same exact ingredient as Ritalin and Methylphenidate, just a different type of capsule – it slowly releases the meds all day so you don’t have to take multiple doses. The best thing I noticed about Concerta was the smooth-ness in comparison with taking short acting methylin several times a day. Comes on gently, lasts all day. I still find the come-down a little troublesome. Adderal is a similar type of drug – but totally different ingredients. For some reason, even if one stimulant works for a person, another one might not work well at all. At least that’s what I’ve read. I hope you can get back on what works for you.
REPORT ABUSEAugust 29, 2011 at 2:33 pm #101500I’m on 54mg (body weight ~75kg). No medical plan so I’m going to as my Dr. to change it to APO 20mg SR 2x/day (at around 1/5th the cost of the Concerta).

AnonymousInactiveAugust 29, 2011 at 6:34 pmPost count: 14413After being on 36mg all through university, I had to up the dose to 54mg when I started working. I too find that it doesn’t ‘carry’ all through the afternoon so I asked my Dr if he could increase it to 72mg ( taken in the morning) after some thoughts and research he told me that it would not do anything in terms of duration to up it. He suggested that I take 54mg in the morning and 18mg at lunch time. Caper, I don’t believe the dosage has to do with weight. It is rather the severity of the symptoms that dictates the dosage.
REPORT ABUSEAugust 29, 2011 at 7:48 pm #101502Mirabilis, I agree that dosage is not determined by weight.
The following report indicates weight may affect the required effective dose, and there are limits based on weight too.

REPORT ABUSEAugust 31, 2011 at 7:34 pm #10150340yr old male 5’10” – 250lb
Taking the following every morning
2 x 54mg Concerta
1 x 10mg Ritalin (kick starter)
2 x 20mg Cipralex (Antidepressant and for Anger managment – I have very low frustration tolerence)
I feel the meth peder out between 4 and 8 pm.
varies by how much or how often I eat during the day.
Much better than taking 2 x 20mg of Ritalin every 3 hours all day then crashing in the evening and turning into a raging crack head, snapping at everyone and eating like a pig. This was before I was introduced to Concerta. Life is so much better now, but most doctors want to see a report from a specialist before they write RX for that big of a dose. What can I say, I’m a big boy.
