I phoned the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario, explained my situation, and asked if they could identify which psychiatrists were new grads, and accepting new patients. The woman I spoke to said that they absolutely could not, and would not, do this—even if my doctor were to request this information himself.
All I can do is go through the list of OVER 850 psychiatrists listed on the site, and check the certification dates of each—information that is listed, but you have to open each individual record to find it. A mammoth task for sure, and one that would take me at least a full day of hyperfocus to accomplish.
My next option is to call CAMH and see if they can suggest anything.
The problem is getting more pressing, as I have some upcoming gigs, and I’m doing some of them with a person whose ADHD (undiagnosed) makes even my mom’s look like a mere blip. This makes it imperative that I control my own symptoms enough to make (and stick to) solid plans to keep myself on track, and contingency plans for any problems that may/will arise. Fortunately, I have “ADD and Loving It” on DVD, to help me with this. But, as you can imagine, I’m feeling rather frazzled!
