Have been on Concerta for about two weeks now. Started off at the minimum dosage and now I am at 28 mg.

So far at work the improvements have been noticed and appreciated. I have had a number of folks call my boss and praise my work and my efforts with regards to their individual situations.

I also got a letter of appreciation that came to my supervisors which when they approached me with this I got “choked up” because I have been so used to being in trouble and getting reprimanded.

This medication coupled with some guidance from a specialists who is aiding me with organization, memory, prioritization and synergizing of my work.

Things are finally turning around for me and can only get better.

You are so lucky! I’ve been on Concerta 27 mg since saturday and I’ve noticed no changes yet. I’m a bit depressed now. I’m kinda tired of messing up all the time. Taking people’s time to help me when I get an anxiety attack at the office. Tired of saying sorry every time I mess up. I hope it works soon as it did for you. It’d be nice…. Although, today I had good feedback, someone said they thought I smiled a lot more lately!

    Moka,

Oddly enough, I got bumped up to the next level. of 36mg. Feedback from my wife has been that there hasn’t been that much difference from the minimum dosage to that of 27mg. Now, I have noticed a big difference with the 36 mg. I have noticed that my focus is more on point. For example, yesterday I set about to finish off some renovations that I had started well over two months ago. Drywall work didn’t appeal to me that much but yesterday I went hardcore and finished the sanding and the priming for the painting which I am doing today. I have one wall done and going to commence on the second one shortly. My wife asked me to have this done prior to Christmas, strangely enough, it looks like I am on track to meet that deadline. Before any of this, that deadline would have only been acknowledged and then quickly forgotten and tossed to the wayside.

I believe that it is a combination of a couple of things. The medication, the organization training, and the military, all this combined is a structured environment that seems to work for ADHD folks, so I have been told by my psychiatrist.

So all in all, things seem to be working out so far. This is only day on the 36mg and so we’ll see how this next week plays out.

Moka, all the reading and research that I have done and all that my psychiatrist has said points towards the a ‘co-morbid’ condition. Meaning for me at least that I have both ADHD and that of a memory impairment. She has mentioned that with treating the ADHD first, that there is a chance that the memory issue may improve. If nothing else, it will allow us to isolate which is more prominent. Then, we can take aim and look at treating both; however, dealing with ADHD first is the prime focus memory issues can be handled at a different time.

Perhaps in your case, if there are panic attacks in the back ground, dealing with ADHD and then looking at just how much of a role that panic attacks play. Treating the ADHD and taking care of it might just see the panic attacks disappear or at least allow you to deal with them much easier.

I am quite sure that things will work out for you, if they have worked out for me, than there is always hope and happiness coming for you!

Disctracted66 – Thanks for the good words. I had a bad day when I wrote my post. Lots of stress at the office. But I’ve been working with someone lately for my anxiety and I think it’s starting to give results; I would have normally had an anxiety attack with all that happened that day, but no, just trembling and my hearth pounding. I kept it under control. If, or rather when (lets stay positive) the meds works and helps for the anxiety, it will be great! I guess once it works, you become more rational and less inclined to have an anxiety attack!

I will say this, I consider myself very fortunate in that where I work, my supervisors and upper management are all very supportive and aware of the situation and the steps that I am taking to handle the situation. Were it not for that fact, the environment would most likely be as it were some time ago, where at every turn I was being ‘bough beaten’ and ‘disciplined’ for every mistake, error and screw up. Presently, had it not been for the keen eye of a great supervisor who has had experience with various forms of learning disabilities and ADD/ADHD, I would have surely slipped through the cracks and would have been released dishonorably from the military. I have been granted a second chance and an blessed opportunity to move ahead in my career.

I truly believe that sharing it with supervisors and upper management plays an important role and enables you to focus on the important stuff and shuts down the banter in the lunch room among co-workers who do not have any say in the situation nor input or influence on your career/job.

Hope that things go much better and that the new medication works out for you. Keep smiling and staying positive all the time, no matter what is said, thought or done.

Life can only get better!…. besides within us ADHD folks lie true genius… so I have been told…. we`ll rise above it all!
