If you haven’t seen this movie, I guarantee you’ll love it.

Fox and Kylie eventually come up with a signal for Kylie to let Fox know he’s still with him. I started using the signal with my wife after seeing the movie (long before I suspected ADD). I couldn’t find the clip, but I found the script on line…

But nothing! You’re going to get me in a

lot of trouble!

The three animals stand in silence for a minute. Fox points

to his tree. Ash turns and starts back home. Fox shakes his

head.

FOX

Where the cuss does that kid get off? Can

you believe that? How’d he get tipped

off? You think he’s going to tell on us?

Fox turns to Kylie. Kylie looks back at him vacantly.

FOX

Before we go any further, from now on can

you give me some kind of signal once in a

while just so I know any of this is

getting through to you?

Pause. Kylie makes a slight motion with his paw. Fox

hesitates.

Wonderful! I must start paw waving.

When I had my psych interview for my ADHD diagnosis, my psychiatrist (who is fortunately excellent) clicked her heel on the floor whilst I was talking – or maybe she was? Anyway, I just ignored it and she did it again but louder. I still ignored it – at least as far as I know I didn’t react because I was busy wondering if she was as unhinged as me so thought it would be rude to react. I mean, how weird to suddenly do odd things during a consultation. Only afterwards did it dawn on me she was testing my reactions! So she will have registered none, instead of me thinking ‘OMG, the job’s got to her’! I hope my inattentive subtype diagnosis wasn’t based on that alone! Haha.

I should say I have had another consultation and she’s not as unhinged as me! But I shall adopt the occassional paw wave next time I see her.

Cyclone – that clip you recommended was funny when I watched it but the look on that guys face has fixed in my head and the empathy is growing. Scary but hilarious.
