Hi Richard and Vikinglady48! Thank you for your support. I apologize fro dropping so many s-bombs in the rant. Just since Friday afternoon I have spent over 20 hours in the computer lab (it is 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning) So far I am probably 30 hrs into this FTIR report and it’s still not done. I failed another test I didn’t have time to study for because I was trying to get this report done because it is already 10 days late. There is already another report due Tue on these gold nanoparticles we synthesized (super cool experiment) and this is only a two-unit lab. Every week is like this. I am only taking 13 units right now and it’s still tough (probably because they are all a perfect storm of physics and chemistry). When I graduate I will probably have a 2.75 from this college (2.9 total). I had wanted to go to PA school because I know I would be really good at it but it is extremely hard to get in with GPA below 3.

Why were you looking for your phone in the fridge? LOL

But, yeah I try to put things in the fridge that shouldn’t be there too sometimes, so I guess it makes sense 🙂

I thought a physics midterm was on Wed. I showed up for the Tue night lab and everyone was taking the test. Needless to say I was completely unprepared and failed the test. I had to withdraw from the class and retook it the following semester.

Okay, so it wouldn’t be so bad, except this happens more than it should. Last week I showed up for a physiology lab. Thought we were going to be measuring body fluids. Nope, everybody had 3 copies of their report rough draft except for me. Got two zeros that day. One for not bringing my draft, and the other for not being able to share with my classmates to do a peer-review exercise. I felt blindsided, but apparently we were informed at some point…

With regards to keeping appointment books – I tried that for a stint, but I kept losing the notepad :-/ I also carried a little book with me and was going to keep really good track of all of my assignents and classes and appointments.. After losing the second little appointment book (in 8 weeks), I remembered why I just don’t even bother >sigh< Writing it on my hand if it’s less than a week away is what still works best

I just read the title again and noticed yours is caused by meds. Don’t know what to do about that one. Sounds like the meds would override any of my suggestions.
But for anyone else that can’t sleep, that’s what I do…

Hello, I have been dealing with insomnia with or without meds since I was in high school (I’m in my late 30s now) and it sucks to say the least. Wake up at 2 or 3 am and can’t fall asleep until 6 or 7 (right when I need to get up for work ugh)

I tried a ton of different things. What helps me most is: don’t eat right before bed – your liver will be processing that and dump a bunch of glucose into your bloodstream around 2am. I tried melatonin – it worked for me! I was actually surprised by how strong it was! Sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night I drink a cup of warm milk with honey in it. Don’t know why, but it works sometimes. And sometimes I troll the internet late at night and gaze at insomnia websites – but that’s BAD!!! Blue light (like the light from your computer and cellphone) messes up our circadian rhythm and trips up our internal clock, so maybe a good PAPER book is better until you get tired. Good luck!
