  1. Oh man that was a good one Rick! I laughed and laughed. I can understand your frustration at people refusing to offer the help that kids so desperately need. That part isn’t funny. As for myself, I used medication for a period of time. It gave me a chance to take a “holiday” away from my symptoms and experience life without ADHD. It also gave me a chance to develop healthy and constructive ways to deal with my condition. I developed good coping skills. Once I became able to mediate and use mindfulness (not easy when you had ADD, trust me), I found I no longer needed ADHD medication. My wife was instrumental in this rehabilitation. I bought many of your videos in the past years and they really helped me and my kids (no surprise, they have ADHD too). I think your sense of humor really helps in making the videos and blogs pleasant tools.
I am a vocational and adult education school principal, and I can see the real life consequences of undiagnosed ADHD. I am also confronted with the occasional “ADHD doesn’t exist, it’s an invention of the pharma companies / government”. This is truly frustrating. However, I get to to see the difference in my students when they follow my advice and get treatment. Thanks again!

  2. I cannot thank you enough for this. I have been sobbing for 3 days thinking Ritalin was street meth. My little boy has 2 specialists that he’s been working with at the hospital for 2 years now. Prior to that, I tried literally EVERYthing from prayer to oils, dietary restrictions to positive reinforcement, punishments to counselors… fidget spinners, bite necklaces… you name it – to help my son. At this point, I finally had to consider medication. I filled the script (Ritalin generic) and have been staring at it for 3 days thinking I am willingly giving my son meth. To put things further into perspective, his father is a heroin addict (with other secondary drugs – one being methamphetamines). This has been the hardest decision to make. THANK YOU for this information. I am still terrified, but it really puts things into a more realistic view for me. And I really needed that. <3
