I suffer from Shiny Object Syndrome that keeps me from accomplishing things I want to in a given day. Lists help me with that tremendously.
But sometimes my list of To Do’s can be overwhelming, especially on a day like yesterday.
I was being fairly productive, yet got a knot in the pit of my stomach as I looked around the house at the dust/dirt/clutter/disrepair. It started to make me want to take to my bed and avoid looking at it all!! Sometimes these things don’t bother me in the least, but this kind of sadness at my inability to stay organized and clean will sneak-attack once in awhile.
So….here’s my high-five event:
Instead of making a looong list of all the things I needed to do, I made a Done List of all the things I’d been able to accomplish in the last week. I wrote it on the dry erase board in my bathroom where I usually put my To Do’s. After I wrote each thing I’d done (All Laundry- cleaned AND put away, Exercised, worked on schoolwork, etc.) I put a line through it that was thin enough that I could still read what I’d gotten done.
15 minutes later, I thought of a To Do and I almost added it to the dry erase board, but stopped myself.
“That’s my Done List, I don’t have to add anything to it that I haven’t already accomplished! Put that pen down!”, I said to myself.
It gave me a REALLY great feeling, seeing all those Dones!!
Sometimes, you just gotta focus on the positive, don’tcha?!
Thanks for reading, great idea for a thread!!
