From the beginning of this thread: “So let’s hear it, folks! Share your cool stuff here! “

Well, I didn’t do any thing cool, but my daughter was copilot on the second C-17 in this article. :

Pacific Angel Descends on the Philippines: Two C-17s brought a group of about 80 US personnel and medical supplies from Andersen AFB, Guam, and JB Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, to Legazpi International Airport in the Philippines for Operation Pacific Angel-Philippines, a six-day humanitarian mission that runs through Saturday. Members of the US contingent set up a temporary clinic from which US medics will provide free medical, dental, and vision care to some 500 Filipinos in Albay province each day this week. At the same time, the US medics, engineers, and specialists are using their visit as an opportunity for joint training and exchange with Philippine military and non-governmental organizations. “The combined efforts between the US and Philippine forces and the relationships that are built and strengthened here will ensure the success of this operation in providing quality facilities, excellent healthcare, and life-saving training,” said Lt. Col. Michael Black, Pacific Angel-Philippines mission commander. The Air Force is also sponsoring Pacific Angel missions to Laos, Nepal, and Vietnam later this year. (Legazpi City report by 1st Lt. Robert Howard)

    Lanakila000,

You Rock!, that’s really cool how you handled that.

<<<< I accepted the results and was able to go out with the person who actually got the promotion and not blame him and/or be a bitch to him. Now that he’s working in the position I’ve actually had the opportunity to help him a few times. >>>>> That there is an accomplishment I can really admire to the extreme. You’ve got some good strong character. To even help the person really shows a maturity I’m hoping to be able to show naturally, not just force myself. I’m guessing it really felt good too. Thanks for sharing.

    quizzical,

that’s the same thing a new lady friend I’m interested in is going through now. She’s up on a stage, beautiful voice, but her mic is not loud enough!!! grrr. Can’t hear her. Makes me angry. I volunteered to help with the sound. It’s a new very complicated mixing board and blew my mind. They never called or emailed me, so I’m not able to do anything but tell the guy who’s training to do what I think I should be doing..ugg. Last week I spoke up to the new trainee sound man about the whole darn band being JUST TOO LOUD!!!! and if you know me, that’s extremely rare. I even went to home depot and bought the best earplugs they have for a little old lady friend who was struggling with the earplugs she had (cheap ones) and holder her hands over her ears. Sorta hear-breaking to say the least. I hope you don’t have to deal with that sort of struggle on top of the relentlessly endless series of rejections. That’s a little bit of the reason I used to not be willing to practice my guitar. My own darn ego is so fragile. Practice is difficult when you can’t stand to play the same stuff over n over n over… It’s easy to understand why The Who used to destroy their instruments at the end of shows. I could tell that story, but that would go beyond my new “post length” limits. I’m pushing it as it is.. huh? ***smile*** rules are for breakin!!! right?

I’ll need to check out that Dr. Jain Blog, hope I can find it! :-)

Sounds like you did great, I hope you get some good new n reviews.

Hey!! tell us how you did that hands free phone thing, I’m resisting the urg to get yet another dang phone. It’s creepy how fast technology is expanding, increasing, I have friends that just ask their phone to google directions and then it gives em to me!! LOL. like a compound passenger AND backseat driver squared kinda thing. LOL.

Just what I need, a Garmin like voice hanging around my neck!!! hehe. Good idea though! I can put off getting a new phone a little longer. Can’t stand trying to type on a touchscreen. Makes me crazy.

    WOW!

KC, you must be beaming with happiness. I like to tell my daughter that “I’m proud to be your father” Nothing beats having our offspring do well. It’s the best stuff life has to offer. Flying towards a beautiful sunset is on my goals/bucket list. Imagine making a beautiful sunset last for 5 or 6 hours, just by flying towards it? I bet your daughter could do that. And make a good long video of it.

I have a mini hight five. I just moved the bag of paper garbage away from my desk. I said I would weeks ago (I think) when I lost my checkbook with an amex card in it. Just as I was typing, a notepad that says “Dave, 3:00” on it fell into that bag. Just slipped off my desk. He’s coming over with important stuff… almost kicked me in the teeth again. I just heard it slip, caught my attention (thank you adhd) and I grabbed… I’m beginning to love having add.

    HIgh five gang!!!

Oops, I forgot to edit/proofread, but I’m runnin late.

    peace.

Loving everything in this thread. So much happening! High fives indeed!

I’ve decided that sometime in the next week I’m going to sit down and start a list of my accomplishments.

Cause all I can see, sometimes, is what I haven’t done yet, what I screwed up, what feel by the wayside, or what I’ll probably never get to.

I suffer from Shiny Object Syndrome that keeps me from accomplishing things I want to in a given day. Lists help me with that tremendously.

But sometimes my list of To Do’s can be overwhelming, especially on a day like yesterday.

I was being fairly productive, yet got a knot in the pit of my stomach as I looked around the house at the dust/dirt/clutter/disrepair. It started to make me want to take to my bed and avoid looking at it all!! Sometimes these things don’t bother me in the least, but this kind of sadness at my inability to stay organized and clean will sneak-attack once in awhile.

    So….here’s my high-five event:

Instead of making a looong list of all the things I needed to do, I made a Done List of all the things I’d been able to accomplish in the last week. I wrote it on the dry erase board in my bathroom where I usually put my To Do’s. After I wrote each thing I’d done (All Laundry- cleaned AND put away, Exercised, worked on schoolwork, etc.) I put a line through it that was thin enough that I could still read what I’d gotten done.

15 minutes later, I thought of a To Do and I almost added it to the dry erase board, but stopped myself.

“That’s my Done List, I don’t have to add anything to it that I haven’t already accomplished! Put that pen down!”, I said to myself.

It gave me a REALLY great feeling, seeing all those Dones!!

Sometimes, you just gotta focus on the positive, don’tcha?!

Thanks for reading, great idea for a thread!!

:-) Thanks, glad you liked it! But it’s Ms. Shiny Object, not Mr. I’m new here, and wanted to set the record straight, lol!

Maybe I should change my profile pic, even though it shows Igor in Young Frankenstein who steals the wrong Abby Normal brain. :-)

Love your Done List, Abby – and Young Frankenstein, too!

I have a version of a Done list going as an experiment: I set a monthly goal for myself. Actually two goals: One “personal” (this month is singing every day) and one “household” (Emptying the dish drainer every morning). Then I made a little poster with a silly picture to illustrate the task and a checklist for each day of the month.

The thing that helps me the most? The fact that over the column where the checkmarks go I put the words “I did it.” Seeing that each day as I check the list off is somehow really, really huge for me.

I’m finally getting into the home stretch in the kitchen-organization project. Cleared off two counters of all the random where-should-THESE-go’s and wiped the counters down. Also got all the random junk off the kitchen table and wiped that down as well. Mopped half of the floor (kitchen’s kind of big). I’m feeling like I might be able to say DONE! on this room very, very soon!

Had the second performance this weekend, and it also went well. But even bigger is – I remembered to sign my payment check for the concerts, note it in the account book, and put the check t in the designated spot for hubby to take to the bank!

A fun game to play when you get a high five, [to celebrate].

Rock, paper scissors, lizard, Spock. It’s very simple. K, Look!: scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smaches scissors, scissors decapitates lizard, lizard eats paper, paper desproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock, and as it always has, rock cruches scissors.

    Great game huh?!, yeah-huh? ***grin***

Good grief Robbo, I’d never remember all that! Good to have a variation on the old game though.

Not sure I could live with myself if I kept decapitating lizards though! So I’d feel obliged to keep chosing lizard and hope the other person chose Spock!

So I’ve been here at my course for a week now, 10 days to go, and some firsts have happened. I’ve had 1 day off. Note: As of last Thursday I’ve been on Strattera for 6 weeks, the length of time for it to fully take effect.

I have been on time every day.

I have not been locked out of anywhere.

Aside from one little piece of paper, I have not forgotten anything, gotten any information screwed up or turned up somewhere at the wrong time or place. (Yes, I know – the course isn’t over yet!)

I am still a thinking person at 5pm.

My reading speed, comprehension and info retention have improved radically.

To the best of my knowledge, my classmates still like working with me.

The aforementioned classmates don’t look confused often when I am speaking.

Aside from falling down the stairs once, I have not embarrassed myself. (I was not seriously injured and it was just the top 4 steps that are dark and curved. It could have happened to anyone.)

    I have not gotten lost.

    I have not lost anything.

I have not forgotten anyone’s name within their hearing.

    :-)

(I am still however, hopelessly behind on my overdue papers. But that’s a topic for another post.)

Dang!, I forgot my high five thing…. grrr.

Oh yeah!!!, I was wondering if anyone has seen Krazy Kat? it wasn’t a high five thing, This is just the last place she posted. Jus wondering. She’s part of our big giant family kind of thing we got going on here, huh? I noticed a post of hers reading somewhere… n just started wonderin.

Eny one know? I hope she’s okay… I bet this site has the most cat’s, dogs, n squirrel Avatars, Huh? The pets pictures kinda grow on us huh? Mebby I’ll think about using my last girlfrinds cat. Oscellina next time I feel like changing my Avatar. She was kinda almost feral, a grouch. But I’m about the only human beside my ex-girlyfriend that she liked. I sorta almost miss the cats more than the lovely lady… And Gingko. Her Chow who was about the coolest Dog in the world. She used to lick our oldest cat like it was her puppy. What a cool dog, huh? I think I’ve been having trouble sleeping lately cuz I’m just lonely. I miss having 4 cat’s a dog n a girlfriend.

This web site community is as much of a family as an Internet community can be. Not a dysfunctional one either huh?

High five for being so down to earth you guys. All of ya… I appreciate this place.

Welp, guess I better get to work…

    tok soon.
