A mom at my kid’s school suggested this. Sounds like a good alternative for people who have high blood pressure, and can’t take the other meds. My blood pressure typically runs normal to slightly low. I’m thinking I’m not a good candidate for this drug. Thanks for all the great info, Wrong_Writer!

Wow, what a moving story. These kids are lucky to have you. Not only did you get solace, but you provided it, as well.

It’s also great that the kids in that school are being properly diagnosed and helped. Where I live, any psychological problems are still met with shame and ridicule. Really, your kids are very blessed, not just by you, but by parents who seem to be letting the kids know how to cope with their ADD. That child knew just how to handle things, by taking a break. You made his day, I’m sure, by being so supportive and open.

Are you a teacher by trade, or just subbing for the Europe trip? If you aren’t a teacher, maybe you should think about it. Sounds like these kids could use more teachers like you.

just the one. I keep forgetting to add tabs, get too excited and click on lots and lots of stuff. I figured out in fb to just click the link in the new tab, and then they stack up. However, I’m trying to cut back on my fb time. To much distraction. Ironically (or maybe appropriately), I’m distracted by this ADD site :)

OHIO-LOVE it!!! However, as a mom, several things come up all at once, and that makes things hard. I will try this, though. I also like the email suggestion. I’ve had a problem holding onto emails for later. It gets cluttered in there, eventually becoming useless. I’ll have to try this, too! Thanks!!!

Nellie, the heart warnings are for those who already have heart issues. If you are taking heart meds or high blood pressure, it would be very wise to call your doctor.

I just got my adderall. There is something on the pharmacist’s label about fruit juices and vitamin C. Something about stomach acid and that effecting how your body absorbs the medication. Whew! I’m glad you said something. I’m guessing I’ll have to stop my morning OJ routine. I was taking it for the calcium, anyway. Here’s the link to the CVS Pharmacy precautions: <http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/health/medication_detail_precautions.jsp?ndc=54868367400>

Juice isn’t that great for you, anyhow. Juice is just straight fructose, which is probably not the best for ADDers, anyway, if we are trying to limit simple sugar intake. The site says citrus is right out, but even still, if you’re going to want an apple, eat an apple, don’t drink the juice. You don’t get the vitamins and minerals that are in the skin when you just drink the juice.

What’s this about alchohol, though. Is one beer every now and then okay???

I love this website! Thanks, Unholycow, for the heads up!!!

update: Meds are in! Thank God!!! Also, my friend is just starting her meds. She’s just a smidge older than me. Glad to have someone close to share the journey with. Thank you for this site!!! A true blessing!
