Third grade: I’m held from going to recess on a beautiful sunny day for an intervention with the principal. My teacher tells him that I sit and stare out the window alot and she can’t do a thing with me. The principal says: “Well I have a machine in my closet in my office that has a boxing glove on it. It uses a remote control that the teacher can use to punch you when you are not paying attention. Is that what we need to do Jimmy?”

That was about 40 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday!

I started taking Strattera about 6 weeks ago starting at 10 mg daily and working up. After 2 weeks at 60 mg, I noticed something different with me, but couldn’t put a finger on it. My Doc then moved me to 80mg and after 4 days at this level the change was instant. I woke up after an 8 hour sleep, did my regular routine, (get dressed, breakfast, coffee, work) and as soon as I got to work it was like I was hit by a lightning bolt. My head was focused on work. I knew what I was going to be doing in 10 minutes. I could walk across the shop and know why I was there when I got there. Physically, I feel like I have consumed a number of pots of coffee but without the jitters. The energy and determination to do stuff is there. Since this time, I’ve noticed that I wake up when the alarm goes off. (No more hitting the snooze button). Talking to people I don’t know on the phone is less draining. I used to wake up from a sound sleep, and my mind would race for an hour or so thinking about bills that I couldn’t pay. Gone. The only “bad” side affect so far are when I urinate it feels as though I have some urine left inside (there isn’t) and I’m loosing some weight (I eat the same, but my pants are getting bigger:).

The best way I know to sum it all up: That fire that my many past employers have been trying to light under my @55 has been lit!

    All job interviews.

I was on the witness stand this one time and some guy representing himself asked me a question. The assistant DA objected and I thought ” Wow this is just like those court TV shows wear things get exiting”. My day dream was interrupted by the Judge telling me to answer the question, to which I replied “Ummmmmm…… What was the question?”

Hi, new to the group. Found it completely randomly. Was diagnosed with ADD a few years ago, tried Stratera for a while, wasn’t really working, made appointment to change, took the wrong day off from work, missed appointment, got discouraged, and never rescheduled. I get daily reminders to go back from my wife (not finishing projects started around the house), employers ( “What ARE you doing?) etc… I found this site while looking for a recent image of Patrick McKenna and ended up here. Great site. The other sites seem like a doctor’s office; this one is like a friends home. Long story short, I made an appointment for Monday (8.09) to see my Dr about doing something different. Will be back soon.

Hit a pedestrian once while paying more attention to the committee in my head than the road. (The woman was “OK” I think because she ran away when I told her I was calling 911).
