Greetings @rollinggcloudd
I am in the exact same position regarding timing and the meds. I am doing 30 mg x 4 weeks then up to 40 for 4.
This is a great forum to either sit back in the corner or do what you’ve just done…step up and say hello. Great people in here, lots of posts going back a bit and current discussions that you’ll enjoy. I’ve been here for only 3 weeks or so and have learned a tremendous amount about others but more about myself. You’ll see yourself in others…..it’s too funny simetimesnbecause you realize you are NOT alone or crazy……well?! Haha

I check out the Medications forum / Vyvanse- and see how people react to their meds, and read their questions and the reply they get. Pretty cool!
I don’t feel a great difference but loss of appetite you?

I just started on Vyvanse 30 mg for 4 weeks then 40 mg for another 4 weeks. As suggested, long and slow build up sounds like the most safest and effective approach.
I’m impatient but I know you can’t rush it.

REPORT ABUSENo you are not alone!
REPORT ABUSEI find this interesting that some of you do not pick up on visual cues from people very well. Is this a trait?
I’m very good in social situations, at best when there are three poeple, and only I know them both, they are complete strangers. The trick is to find something of commonality between the two to get the conversation going.
As a trainer I need to watch body language not only theirs, but what message am I giving to them.
But I am a terrible listener, I interrupt people all the time, but can get along with just about anyone.
REPORT ABUSEI believe that when a person see’s a situation unlike any other in a group, or quicker than others, they are using their creativity….sometimes called quick wit. In your story, you just said it as you saw it….it, meaning the person raising their hand to ask a question whereas others saw it as a high five. That’s creative visualization.
secondly, I figure that your handle (shutterbug) represents an interest in amateur photography….and you’re 59.
people have said that I am successful in business, similarly too your creativity but I too have never really seen it their way….I sometimes think I’m faking it and will be found out one day. Messed up thinking but by never taking it for granted i remain motivated….some of the time

REPORT ABUSEI can relate to your junkie comment, always needing something exciting. Again it’s been a few weeks since my diagnosis…now I understand why for my entire life I recall saying this, but mostly living it every week, “I always need something exciting to look forward to do later in the day, week, month.” And I told my doctor that I’ve always had a fear of being bored.
Makes a bit more sense now.

Too funny!! In my work as an instructor, I too have said something in a nonchalant manner only to be surprised by a giggle or a laugh. Its not unusual for us all to laugh during training sessions because I’m the one who sets the starting tone of the day….fun!
The funniest part of your story to me is imagining what the look on your face would have been as you delivered the “punch line.” That is what put them over the edge.
You have a little creativity brewing perhaps?

REPORT ABUSEAre you still around? I just read your post…I was diagnosed ADHD a few weeks ago and am just working up the medication.
The only difference in my diagnosis was 3 hours of computer-based testing which spit out data compared to the norm and to other ADD/ADHD folks.
Luckily I was moderate and at 70% of the scale. Yup we are a creative bunch, so I was interested to learn you are a cartoonist? Correct?
I am an instructor that works with adults in the work environment and it’s almost perfect for me…plus I own the corporation so no one can fire me now!! Haha
I get my creative rocks off by creating the programs, I can engage people to sell it, and get to control how much I work by myself (home office) or out there in the marketplace.
I don’t know if this sort of work has ever crossed your mind but all you need to do is find a topic that you are passionate about and become a knowledgeable expert on the topic. For me I went back to night school to get a college certification in my topic of choice….occupational health and safety.
Just a thought

REPORT ABUSESally Ann was exploring for a few minutes before walking into the living room to find our long-haired, white and deaf cat enjoying a new adventure!
Too funny!
We now have three cats all living together with my wife and I….it’s a source of entertainment, sometimes frustration with hairballs and the odd “surprise” but it’s better than me having to deal with kids.
We had decided 18 years ago that kids were not in our future. One because she claims to have zero instincts or desire to raise a child, two, because I have said, and still do to this day, I am too immature to have had children. Now that I have an ADHD diagnosis, it’s likely related to that part. To think that at 49 I could have a 29 year old offspring, mind shattering! I’d likely be a better “friend” than “father” which is another reason not to procreate.

REPORT ABUSEOne winter we had plastic up over the windows the kind you stretch with a blow dryer. Our cat had ripped into it and was found all squishy-like between the window and the plastic.
my wife later added duct tape to reseal the window. My buddy comes over and says, “I like what you’ve done with the place.” We fell about the place laughing so hard.
didnt you have an actual tree?
REPORT ABUSEGreetings
I was recently diagnosed and just last night began the conversation with my wife about how we can work together. I don’t take critisism very well but I know that if she approaches whatever the situation is with care, I’ll likely respond well. But I also know that I cannot just leave it to her to figure out how to walk softly, (nor do I think she should) so I have given her a few ideas of how she can remind me of something that I said I wanted to do, without me reacting badly.
Could you ask him for guidance in this regard?
and yes, time is not as apparent to us. I am going to try a new trick: set a timeframe for a task and set my phone to alarm at that time. But I’ll still need to yank myself out of the hyper focus state when the alarm goes.

REPORT ABUSEJanuary 22, 2015 at 11:06 pm in reply to: For fun — follow the tangent (Or: Hijack my thread – please!) #126493Summer is my favorite season hands down too! But up here in Ontario (where the majority of the Canadian population is geographically situated more southerly then many northern states), to watch the sun set lower on the horizon with each passing autumn week, and the leaves turning bright shades of colour, despite my colorblindness, it is truly cool, not that we actually hate the cool crisp air after a snow fall and the crunchy sound under your boots as you walk across the frozen surface, much like the surface of the hockey ponds that many of the great Canadian hockey players.
REPORT ABUSEHello…I am 49 years old, a recently diagnosed ADHDer, married – twice, just celebrated 15 years with my wife; divoriced my high school sweetheart a while back. My current wife and I decided to go with the DINKS lifestyle by choice: Duel Income No Kids. We have three cats. We have a tremendous amount of respect for each other and separate bank accounts. I’m a great dishwasher and she is a dynamite cook…I’m the test kitchen.
Who ever brings up a requirement to hit a restaurant, it’s their turn to pay. We are adventous and spontaneous. We rode for the first few years on the same motorcycle, until she announced she wanted her own. Too cool, eh?
We love trying beers from around the world or finding a micro brewery. We’ve often had contests to see who can fit more wine bottles into the side motorcycle bags!!
Listen…..I just want to say that you don’t need to have offspring to be married, nor do you need to be married to live with someone. Just being me attracted my wife, so don’t do nothin’ different.
Our challenges have been overcome maybe because when we met and for the past 18 years, I was just being me, not me with ADHD. Focus on the awesomeness of being you…be independent, and when someone sees the value in an independent you, don’t let that one go. You can be independent and be married.
Here’s my little secret: we even sleep in separate bedrooms. No longer to I interrupt her much needed rest with my snoring, and I get an entire bed to myself and don’t worry that my endless tossing and turning will awake her. We can have a sleep over anytime we want!
Find someone who can finish your sentences instead of you finishing theirs.
