I suffer from GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) AND ADHD, and I ditto Scattybird’s post. It’s best to treat both the anxiety AND the ADHD. It’s very common to have co-morbid disorders along with ADHD, so you are not alone.

REPORT ABUSEHey Rick, your link is to Google mail.
REPORT ABUSEEvery time I hear “personal assistant,” I think of Sharona/Natalie from the show Monk. Anyone else watch it?

REPORT ABUSEI’m not sure I”m a loner per se – but I am an introvert, and to recharge, I need to be alone. Like REALLY alone, as in no one else even in the house.

REPORT ABUSEAugust 17, 2012 at 11:58 am in reply to: Comments/reviews? on Dr. Ned Hallowel's Delivered from Distraction, got some? #115461“You Mean I’m Not Lazy, Stupid, or Crazy” has been my favorite book by far. I read both Driven and Delivered from Distraction and they just didn’t really speak to me. I think “You Mean I’m Not…” did because I liked the sense of humor in it and that it was written by two women. It seemed more down to earth than the others.
One book that I liked that probably most people wouldn’t is “Taking Charge of Adult ADHD” by Barkley. I am a nuts and bolts type of person, and knowing WHY I think the way I do helps me more than anything.

REPORT ABUSEI’ve got a To Do list a mile long. It’s organized (somewhat) though in Remember the Milk. But – if I don’t write it down, it doesn’t get done.
Unfortunately though, I have some things on there that I have no idea what I meant by them!

REPORT ABUSEI keep my ipod touch on me almost all the time, so I set alarms with the Remember the Milk program to remind me to do things.

REPORT ABUSEI’m a stay at home mom. Before that, I was a Lotus Notes administrator (computer work). I liked the troubleshooting problems part of the job, but I couldn’t stand sitting in a cubicle all day. I always worked cubicle jobs before staying at home (advertising and then a career change to IT), and it drove me nuts.
Whenever I go back to work, I have no idea what I’m going to do because I wasn’t diagnosed as ADHD until after I quit to stay home.

REPORT ABUSEI always felt like this:

Good luck! After the initial “wow, this is unbelievable!” phase after first starting meds, I slipped back into old habits and went through a period of anger. I still get angry and frustrated at my ADHD when it seems like things are harder for me than other people. I have to tell myself that on the other hand, some things are easier for me compared to someone else. Everybody’s different and everybody tries to find ways to get through the day.

REPORT ABUSEJuly 24, 2012 at 4:29 pm in reply to: Do any of you musician's find that music helps your ADD? #115099I grew up playing (piano, flute, bassoon) on my own and with school band. I currently play bassoon in a community band and orchestra. I love playing with an ensemble, but I think that my ADD hinders my abilities because I tend to lose track (especially if I have to concentrate during difficult pieces) and my mind wanders a lot because I get caught up in listening instead of playing!
I was always told growing up I could accomplish more and go further if I would just practice because I supposedly had the talent. But I hated practicing (and still do!) and would always get so bored with it that it was a struggle just to get through it. As with everything else it seemed, I would get to a certain point and just never get over the hump of what I could accomplish. Medication has really helped.

REPORT ABUSEI’m putting off painting my kitchen cabinets until the fall when school starts. It’s impossible with two little ones at home.

REPORT ABUSENo, not at all.
Just kidding! Yes, I do a lot of those things too because I’m impatient, especially when I get a package in the mail. Just.. can’t.. wait… to see what’s in it and get it open!!
I use a purse with a lot of outside pockets to store my keys and cellphone in so that I can get them quickly when I have to. I don’t put them in my big inside compartment of the purse because they get lost like you describe. Also, my billfold is a different color than the purse so that I can find it easily. For a while I had a black purse and a black billfold and it drove me nuts trying to find it in the purse all of the time.
